As one who spent years restoring a 69 Boss 429, I know how hard it is to locate the correct parts for a limited produced vehicle. What parts would you think one should order now if you plan on keeping the car for long term. I was thinking of some of the parts (most) are unique. I can see some of the relays for example after 6-8 years may start being dropped from the parts programs, and with the auto industies they can be here today merged tommorrow. Even common items like filters could go away cause of low volumes

I guess it would take someone to know the unique wear items that were not used on only other Ford cars. Example maybe the master cylinder, fuel pump ect

It would be a long list. I would say electronic parts. Other parts can be made or modified from other parts that are close. If the GT has any unique electronics, those are harder to custom make at a resonable cost.

I'm not telling...lets just say I have about $2000 in parts already in the garage :)

Oh and that includes about 6 sets of numbers for the car...heheheheh

Interesting question. Those of us who plan on holding on to the car long term should consider parts that are unique and subject to wear or damage. I have purchased the following items:

-new stainless door sills
-front spoiler
-interior rubber mats (these are qiute unusual and if you don't have carpets over them will wear) these will be difficult to duplicate!
-side stripes (I will be removing the stripes and only leave the "ford" GT definitely cool!!
-for those of you with 2005 cars consider purchasing new door opening assemblies. "05 cars don"t function as well as "06 due to an updated improvement. These will wear over the years and I suspect all "05s will eventually need replacements
-still adding to the list!!

I have owned old "60 vintage Ferraris and am aware of replacement parts difficulties. If you end up selling the car it will add value (?) or can always sell on e-bay!!

What would be real nice would be for Ford to supply list of parts that are selling now to see if there is a trend. Or at the least let us know what parts are being considered for obsolecence so they could be grabbed up. I know on my boss 429, the dust caps over the front bearings were unique and I ended up tooling the part. Now I have 100 sets of them! Of course I do recoup some of my money with ebay.
