As the answers to all things automotive are contained in the grey matter of GT Forum members, I need some advice? I want to put a 4-post lift in my garage to store one car above another. Who makes the best lift for home use? Here are my criteria.

1. Drive on/drive off rails that are low enough (and wide enough for GT tires) to get my GT on.

2. Removable drip pan so I can use it to change my own oil in the GT, but that will prevent any possible fluids from dripping onto the car below when it's installed.

3. Electrically operated.

4. Safe, stable, quality built with a powder coated finish.

What's the best, cost be damned? :thumbsup AND, what is to be avoided? :thumbsdow
Thanks in advance.

4 Post Lift

Hi Chip,
It’s your friendly Texas “Recruiter” here.
This is the lift I use at home for the machines.
The Perfect Park 7000 http://www.liftsunlimited.com/prod-perfect-info.asp
Have used it for more than 7 years now with absolutely no issues.
I can put the Panoz on top with the GT under or vise versa.
There are a lot of different manufactures out there; I think it is a matter of preference. Some items I would highly recommend are:
Drip Pans
Jack Cross Bars
Light Weight Aluminum Ramps
Caster Wheels – if you need or want to move it any
You can get it in either 110v or 220v. They will also powder coat in any color if you wish; got mine in Gloss Black.
Also, I would recommend that before you install it, be sure to install 1/4” polypropylene sheet under each post. The lifts will and do shift somewhat and this eliminate the scuffing and scratching of your garage floor. You can purchase it from any industrial plastic supply house [check your local Yellow Pages].
Also be sure to check for height clearance with your garage door open.
Hope this is of some help.

I've been thinking of getting one of these as the four post lifts would take up a lot of walking space in my narrow garage.

4-post lifts

I contacted a Company called ARESCO in Pontiac Mich. I was advised that they supplied and installed the lifts at Wixom and Michigan Truck plant. They were recommended by some of my former Ford Motor Company Engineering employee friends. I am just in the process of finishing the garage so I will not purchase until the spring. The guys name is Steve White 248-335-5438. The key for me is that he supplies, ships and does the installation in your garage...
There are MANY others..Backyard Buddy, DirectLift, Rotary etc..all have websites. Hope this helps . Andy Benedict...ajb 2006 Blue/White 0541

I just intalled a Backyard Buddy lift.

I just intalled a Backyard Buddy lift. It is well-built and fairly easy to assemble. You may need a few friends to help move the rather heavy parts and pieces around during delivery and set up. I am very pleased with the quality , fuction and design. If you need any help with information, I'm happy to help.
