If you want an extra ecu for the GT, a extra one is about $385 on this site. I have read when you re-flash your ecu the date of the last time it was flashed is stored. If this is true and you want to maintain the factory date then a spare may be useful.

I believe the original ECU also has the car mileage stored it.
If you swap out the ECU and then swap it back, I think the old ECU will not show the correct mileage.

I good point about the mileage. 2005 is listed the 2006 should be the same part.

FYI - I know late model DCX vehicles store mileage in the gauge cluster and not in the ECU. Don't know about Ford, but maybe there's good reason, maybe even a legal one, why DCX doesn't use the ECU to store this.
