Application for New GT's Coming November 8th says Road & Track???

The article says application opens November 8th and will close 30 days later. it also said they will build 350 extra for a total of 600 not spoken for at this point. That will bring the total to 1,350 GT's

First two articles have math errors I believe.

Interesting and wonder if the last 250 and additional will be allocated at one time

Original application was for 500 cars, then they announce at 2019 model at Pebble Beach and that everyone that was waitlisted would get a car. One would assume that meant that they had 250 cars left for 2020 to allocate to total 1000 cars. Now that they announce 350 more cars are to be built for 2020-2022, how many cars are actually supposed to be allocated this round?

I was at the news briefing today. Here’s the news story I just submitted to my editors.

Update, story is up: https://www.kbb.com/car-news/all-the-latest/ford-gt-demand-drives-up-ford-gt-supply/2100005944/

Ford GT Demand Drives Up Ford GT Supply

Ford will produce a total of 1,350 new Ford GTs between 2017 and 2022. The 647-horsepower, 216-mph supercar was originally slated for 500 units, but demand for the car quickly drove that number to 1,000. Today Ford committed to 1,350 total new Ford GT production units, with between 25 and 30 percent sold outside the U.S.

Ford’s Le Mans-winning supercar features a carbon fiber structure and a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Ford’s supplier, Multimatic, initially struggled to produce the GT at the rate of one a day in 2017. For 2018 the car’s production numbers are on target, at approximately 250 total units.

The Ford GT generated over 6,500 applications when order banks opened in April of 2016. That same year the Ford GT won Le Mans, 50 years to the day after Ford first won the endurance race with the GT40 in 1966.

The modern Ford GT is offered as a global product, with multiple units already delivered in Canada and Europe. Additional markets will receive units in the coming years, keeping total U.S. allocation around 1,000 units. Starting price is $500,000, with multiple configurations and custom colors offered to buyers. The Ford GT just won the IMSA GTLM manufacturers title for 2018. It will race again in 2019.

No more heritage editions after 2020, may be more special editions in the pipeline?

The article also says November 8th and will close 30 days later. it also said they will build 350 more, not 250 more... wonder if any of this is true?

My math tells me it’s an additional 600 to the 750 already allocated. I like the increased odds!!

This is a little bit confusing by the different articles. Even though they released the first allocations in two parts because the race program had not been announced, the original allocation was for 750 cars all along. Unless they are able to make more than 5 per week, the math doesn't seem to work out making 1350 cars even if they produce out to 2022. It sounds like MT may have this more correct with the last allocation being for 350 instead of 250, making total production around 1100. I guess we will see in the coming weeks.

Thanks for clarifying Dave!

That would say Special K's math is correct and applications would be open for 600 NFGT. Very good news for those of us who didn't make the cut first time around. Thanks Ford!

Has there been any indication that the race program is going to be continued beyond next year? Might Ford be looking forward to racing this car under the new hypercar specs? I would really love to see that.

Ok, time to sharpen our pencil to start drafting the reason why each of us who didn't get selected/waitlisted NEEDS one of the remaining allocation spots!!

Nov 8th..., tic toc tic toc.....
