For no particular reason I tend to buy first year new versions of Corvettes—did with C 6 and 7. Was going to pass this time , but the mid engine might be fun. From what little I’ve seen, however, the design is not great IMO.

Anyone here ordered one?

IMHO, one shouldn't pre-order a car he/she hasn't seen...let alone has no idea knows what engines, etc., might be available.

I'm on a dealer's list...have been since 2014...but, per the above, 'not going to place deposit/order 'til I know what's what with the car.

Understand. right now all you can do is be on a dealer’s list

You’re a very brave man ordering first year Corvettes. There’s a picture of you somewhere in the GM Warranty Hall of Fame.

Oddly, never an issue

I'd get a last year C7 myself.

Ditto.

Back here in Detroit its been known to have been plagued with many problems. But 1000 hp is cool.

...which will undoubtedly only be available as an option...if at all...and we won't be seeing it for at least a year or two down the road after the car's release either - if it in fact does materialize. We can virtually count on that game being played.

'Base engine will likely be something around 550 from the get-go?

Reports last week, testing the 1000 hp version the frame was bending..... We are watching this closely. Not on a list... Have great relationship with dealer though...

My wife has a 2019 Grand Sport. Great car.

Perhaps GM should have gone in on the BMF chassis group buy?

That is kind of surprising. Making 1000 hp is not exactly uncommon. Many other cars including current generation Corvettes are getting there with just bolt on modifications. Maybe the new C8 chassis has serious design issues.

Just stalking now... won’t be first year....

LMFAO haha

Interested in GM mid-ship design and bargain V-8 performance.

But let's see what the ass end looks like. I can tolerate square tail lights.

But if the C8 rear is as big and hulking as the current version, ummm, NO.

Like the '83 Corvette?

If GM ever produces the car, to date they managed to beat the new NSX long intro to launch, the Toyota Supra (I mean BMW Z), I am going to pass (we’ll die waiting)- I am seriously considering the Porsche GT3 Touring-

I have my dream cars.
