Anyone Ever Consider Hiring A Security Guard?

Some may think this is ridiculous, but I may actually hire someone to guard my car if I use it to go out to dinner, etc. WTH, pay a guy $25/hour for 3 hours plus a $25 tip. What's a $100 compared to what it would cost to repair the damage some jealous knucklehead could cause; not to mention the emotional trama. So far, the car hasn't been out of my sight for even a nanosecond.

:lol

I know what you're saying. Sometimes I take it out, then feel like an ass because I sit by the window half-assed paying attention to whoever I'm with making sure nobody screws with it. I've left it at the mall a couple times, but I make it clear to the valet I'm parking it and I'm keeping the keys. Every once in awhile there'll be an RR Phantom, Continental GT, etc to keep it company so I figure I'll live...

I valeted mine a while back and found the "drivers" taking turns having their photos snapped in different poses from inside the car.

Some neigborhood teenage s.o.b.s keyed 9 new, high end luxo cars at christmas party I attended last year... my new Lexus was one of 'em... mine wasn't too bad...' bout 700.00 to repair, but several others were much worse... 4 to 5K for complete repaints.

I was absolutely distraught about my car and the damage to it... if it had been my GT, I can't imagine how I would have felt.

btw... witnesses I.D.d the punks, Cops wouldn't do anthing to 'em... something about one of 'em being a city councilman's brat...

Happened in Trophy Club (exclusive development), Northwest of DFW... my friend who hosted the party, sold his house and moved out of community because of this incident and a few more like it.

So yea, in that situation, a guard would have been a great idea.

I like many others go out fully dressed in the GT, but that's more intented to deal with some low life scumbag that thinks I'm an easy mark for some cash, jewelery, etc. I would resist the temptation to bust a cap in some dope just for messin up my car, although it would be very tempting. I'd most certainly give 'em an ass whoopen though.

There's nothin' wrong with a good ass kickin! :wink
Not enough people get one. I think one of the worst offences is messing with another man's car, especially when that man is not there. Keying and such, is usually done by someone with no balls, and hates the fact that someone else "Made it", and they are still flippin' burgers (not that there is anything wrong with that).
Man, if I caught someone keying my GT, I probably would not be here for a couple years! :lol :lol
Thank god I got a lifetime membership! :biggrin

Ah, the City of Brotherly Love!

What about putting "NRA Board Member Since 1990" on the back window?

I've had cars vandalised in the UK - however these days I live a long way out of London, as do most of my friends, so I rarely have to park in any other location other than large private houses with electric gates. I wouldn't take the GT to a restaurant at night - besides, my wife drives so we take the Subaru! :lol

This year when I went down to the south of France on holiday, I was sad enough to mail every place I was staying to check the parking arrangements!

Keying cars is really pathetic and maddening vandelism - cowardly. As has already been said, 'don't mess with another mans car' or you're highly likely to wind up with a broken face. :frown

If any of us caught someone keying a GT? I dread to think the response. Not pretty!

Security guard is a very good idea.

Re: Keying

-If its kids; that very sad. The reason is 100% the parents, period, full stop. Parents set the example, and kids follow: ie, trashing a hotel room, beating on a rental car, slaming your door into another car, road/air/food rage, etc. Unless you drive home respect for yourself, others, their property, its all a waste.

I am not pontificating either; had 2 tires slashed (Michelin XVX $450 ea.) and one side keyed on my BMW in Scarsdale, NY (Beverly Hills of NY). I am 100% sure it was a native of the community; not a working class kid from neighboring towns (generally have better moral/work ethics).

I felt sorry. Some kid either had parents, peers or such low self esteem that this act is the best he could come up. A long life of failures/mistakes is ahead of this fellow and his parents. Michellin popped on two new ones and prince of a teenager with his own detailing business spent 6 hours (@$200+ 50 tip) on that same car, and made it look new.

Old saying where i come from: "Dont lend your sword (gun), camel (Horse, GT), or wife to anyone; might not like it when you get it back"

I just had my dealer install the ultimate car security system. go here for demo:
