Gulf GT. I have the same problem. I recently installed the Borla (Ford Racing) muffler on my car. When the car is cold the exhaust tips are perfectly centered in the exhaust cut out that surrounds the tips and is attached to the bumber. As the exhaust tips heat up, they rise and touch the upper edges of the plastic and melt the plastic right in the area where the phillips head screws attach. I think that the solution is to move the exhaust tips lower so that as the tips heat up and rise they do not touch the upper lip. Unfortunately, I have not figured out a way to get to the retaining sleeve to loosen the nuts without dropping the diffuser pan. I ordered a trans cooler a few days ago and figured I would tackle both projects next weekend. PD
