I have started to consider a more sophisticated security system for my GT beyond the flashing lights and honking horn, which doesn't help at all if it's towed or driven away. Anyone using Lojack, GPS tracking, or some other quick find and recovery solution? Of course filling someone's ass with buck shot tends to be a good deterrent but you have to be careful to miss the car!

I use lojack on all my cars as I live 30 miles south of Houston, Texas. Lojack is probably the best although you need to check and see if it is available in your area. (mostly near large metro areas). All the bells, whistles and sirens people don't pay much attention. Lojack in the Houston area has great results on autos and bikes.Tomy Hamon

While dropping off a couple cars to a shop last Monday the owner and I had a discussion about Lojack. Apparently a friend of his showed him how to locate a Lojack unit in about 15 seconds using a cell phone. Pretty scary. This particular shop maintains several priceless race cars so they obviously have a need for something that would be more secure.

I'll find out what they use.

I am not so sure you can find a lojack using a cell phone, I would like to know more about that. But there are only a few places to put one so if you look you will find it.

I am using a Guidepoint GPS system. If my car is moved 25 feet or more, without my unlocking it, it sends a signal to a 24 hour a day location who then calls me. It also has a disable system built in. I can also use my computer to check and see where my car is at any time. It also will tell me things like where the car has been, how fast the car has been travelling, all the things you don't want your wife to know. Just kidding honey. It also has a dead battery alert to notify them if the battery is disconnected. The shop that installs the GPS engine hides it somewhere in the vehicle. They would not even tell me where it is, and I haven't found it yet. They have several different plans you can subscribe to so you can fit it to your budget.

I should have said I want something like the GPS so I can track where the car is immediately should it go missing. Fyr, can you post a link or info about the system your using? I get the feeling that most exotics are targets with a planned theft and not so random grab and run. If someone winches your car into a trailer it's gone without the GPS.

Maybe gone with GPS too. If the trailer is a metal box I doubt that the GPS signals will get in, nor the tracking info out. The only signal you may get is when it is being unloaded to be put on a ship at the docks.

Here is a website for Guidepoint GPS systems.

Thanks for the info :cheers

This is the GPS Tracking I use which is vertually identical to The GuidePoint system

I have a trunk monkey and Bruno...
The trunk monkey is funny as hell...

I use a top secret nonconventional system that cannot be discussed in the "People's Republic of Kalifornia". This system has worked very effectively for me in the past. When I finally get out of the PRK I will be more apt to dicuss it. Oh, by the way. Thanks again DBK for this forum, much appreciated. :usa

isaak is trying to say: "full auto"

Hope Mrs. Bony never sees this stuff...
"yes dear, I am here at the jewelery store..."

The Master Sentry website does NOT list the Ford GT as a make/model applicable to this system.

I have LoJak on my Harleys. I found out that it only works in local areas where the police subscribe and towers are set. If the theif gets it out of area you're SOL. Not good enough in my book.

Just went on their website, they don't list a relay replacement unit for the F-GT :ack

I don't have the car here to check but does the GT use a standard Bosch starter relay?

The master lock sentry is pretty universal.... you could probably use it in place of the fuel pump relay too.

My Dad ordered three units from The Tracking Corporation ( http://www.microtrakgps.com/ ), I'll report when they get here.

I e-mailed the company and just got a reply. They DO NOT make a system for the Ford GT. usmcfred
