Would a real low tire,Not stock rim+tire make engine check lite come on?

I can see incorrect speedo readings, and related stuff though (of coarse).

When developing our car we asked the Ford engineers what we could do with tires. They said that anything 3% different than factory would throw off the ABS. Maybe the GT guys can jump in here and offer some further insight.
I don't see how or why it would cause a check engine light but it could mess with other systems of the car.
