Read a lot on these two cars, but what's everyone's opinion on daily driver and just a fun everyday car?

911 Turbo and don't look back, it's a bad design executed to perfection ! Hard to find another sport car that can beat the daily drivability of the 911, it does everything good and not one thing super good. GTR, well not a big fan.

I had 2 GTR’s My last one a 2012 BE .I really enjoyed the car.Killer performance. But not a great track car at all.It is a great street car though. But its still a Nissan. The screen is to gimmicky and not really useful other than the temp gauges. For me I have to admit Specracer was right.I am an analog kind of guy.I need 3 pedals and a stick shift. Its just a much more engaging driving experience. If you get a P car get a standard.I own 3 P cars an 87 targa A GT3 cup and a 997 GT2.The GT2 kills the GTR in shear looks and enjoyment.Plus not every Japanese car or Bimmer wants to street race you!

The GTR is a technological wonder. It does everything effortlessly and without drama, with the exception of the incredible thrill of feeling the car stay on boost from shift to shift. It is a true modern car, combining in one machine all that the industry has learned in the years during which the motorcar has been built. It is a true all-rounder, a car that truly does perform anytime, anywhere, and for every driver.
Well, it comes down to a matter of taste and personal preference. My feeling is that the GTR, while certainly able, is a bit boring and detached from the actual joy of piloting a sports car. The Porsche ,conversely, is all about the irrational exuberance of a raw sports car. It embraces you in the shear joy of driving.
The craftsmanship of the Porsche is second to none. The interior of the Porsche is far superior in comfort and function.

Just picked up a 997.1 for my daily. Put snow tires on and I'm good to go. Loving the hydraulic steering. Great car.

2013 Nissan GT-R Black Edition vs. 2012 Porsche 911 .

F'in totally agree. As much I've wanted to embrace the new the new tech in cars like the Nissan's have brought forward but failed to complete, I have seen those cars do amazing things on track - but they fail to close. The software Nissan, as an example, has provided is amazing. The traction control response and self-saving programs are astounding. I've seen cars, that the drivers should roll up in balls , but the Nissan engineers completely disagreed and the cars stayed on track purely as a result of of the software. However, - as Ron suggests - as a driver, I would prefer to remain in control and make the primary decision right or wrong.

997 wins this race

Ask yerself this question: Would you rather pick up a hot date in a 911 or GTR? Then buy accordingly.

Well, I'm married so picking up a hot date is not really in the equation. Also, I drive an 03 Viper occasionally however, after driving the GT, the Viper is just so rough and unrefined. I know a lot of people love that aspect of it, but when you have driven the GT then get in the Viper there is no comparison.

I currently have three 911's.... and oddly enough I'm just about to trade in my '08 997 TT (red/tan/black). If you are interested PM me and I can give you details.

Otherwise, if you already found one, you will not be disappointed, especially in an unpredictable climate. The GTR is a great car, but the 997 seems to fill sooo many voids. Its completely understandable why the 911 series (especially the Turbo, C4S, GT3, GT2 etc...) continue to be the benchmark most manufacturers strive to beat. Its a timeless beauty and the quality is amazing.

Good luck on your decision, both are great cars (but I lean towards the Porsche on this one).

curious to hear what you get

Yer being too literal. So, lemme rephrase it: If you and your wife were still dating, which one would you want to drive to pick her up?
