A Comedy of Errors

Well, I hope this chapter in your car's history is over shortly and you can really enjoy the great machine. Maybe we can have a GT owner's meeting at Goodwood, there is no place in vintage motorsports like it. :biggrin

Hey there-

Looks likes they finally 'fessed up and have taken care of your concerns.
I'm glad.
Time to put some miles on the car. Enjoy.

take a look at this ebay item .. a manual how to treat the GT and it's customers

I am looking for one... however, how can any dealer say they were not advised by the factory... impossible.

That's a useful looking book - I wonder how many are out there?

Actually the ford OASIS system has a booklet on handling GT owners and their vehicles and what is expected of them. I am an SVT certified service advisor at a ford dealer as well but in florida and there are numerous little details that must be followed with those cars. But in all honesty common sense is just what you need. Myself and my co-worker Brian are lucky enough to have a great senior master tech with racing background to boot at our facility. And on top of that he takes pride in what he does and has respect for the owners as well as the vehicles. Test drives sometimes are needed per factory specs but they are not to "joy ride" they are to prove a point and ensure the vehicle is perfectly fine before it is returned to you. I am sorry to hear of the bad experience but it isnt something that a GT or any owner should have to go through. Hope it all turns out well for you.

Mod,

Thanks for the input. I put some TLC to my car today, hand waxing it. I only had it 10 days before this fiasco started, so I didn't even get around to that. The weather was great so I took it for a spin. I went to Southwest Ford (per Steve T's recommendation) and met with the service mgr. and their GT technician. The service bays were a lot cleaner than the AutoNation dealership where I bought the car. They are a privately owned dealership and service several GT's. I think they will take good care of my car if any warranty work is needed. Ironically, they had heard of my "incident" through the grapevine. LEMANSZ, thanks for the copy of the brochure. AC

Glad to see you have the GT back! :cheers

Now that you are back in the saddle, check out the Dallas area get together thread.

Hopefully a final update about the repair of my car...so that we can put this thread to rest! I'm having the clearshield put back on the front nose cover next week. I waited 4-5 weeks for the paint to cure. I have had all my requests met including a letter from the selling dealership covering scheduled oil changes as long as I own the car. At $300+ for oil, parts and labor, that may add up to something over time. I got the printed shop manual and am getting the service CD-ROM. Throw in a LoJack on top of that. The insurer for the dealership also has come up with a $10K offer for diminished value which I have accepted. This actually surprised me as I was expecting the big nada (the cash may come in handy for my sweetheart's engagement ring). At the end of all this, I can sleep at night with this settlement.
I thing I'm going to take the old cracked nose cover and make a piece of wall art in my garage. :lol
Abolfaz, stay the course and your car will be fixed right. It took letters, plus I was in contact with 3 different people inside the Ford GT project who advised me on my situation. I feel for you bro, but you are in the right place for advice on this Forum.
I'm looking forward to getting together with the DFW Ford GT guys this Sat. Peace, AC

Congrats and start enjoying that damn thing! :cheers

BRAVO!!! :banana :cheers

Congrats

Good for you! Thank you for sharing your plight with us.

Sounds good! Glad it all worked out for you!

I'll unstick this once everyone gets their chance to say "thank god" :biggrin
