What does the flashing blue light in the upper right corner of the windshield on some of the cars indicate?

(I'm assuming it's a 'top dog' badge of some kind.)

Yep, cars qualifying fastest (top 20 I think) get the blue light so that at night it's easier for the cars they're about to pass to know that they're being approached by a faster car.
