Has anyone tackled converting an 05 grille to the 06 grille? I had a pulley and tune done on my 05. Car now runs a lot hotter on the track and I'm wondering if the conversion will help air flow to the rads. I acquired an 06 grille and was looking at doing the work myself. The shop manual makes it seem real simple...remove the front splitter and the fake brake ducts and then the grille can be swapped out. I removed the splitter and there does not seem to be enough working space up front to do it this way. Does the nose cover need to be removed? Thanks for any advice.

I believe the front bumper has to be removed to complete the process.

Thanks, thats the conclusion I came to. Bumper cover removal involves detaching the wheel splash guards and removing the headlights....too complicated for me. I'll let the GT Guys do this the next time they are in DFW.

A wise conclusion.

It is my understanding that the whole front end needs to be changed to the '06, including nose. John Pfeifer (?) said if you do this it's probably better to switch to a Canadian system cause it's heavier and stronger.

No, only the front fascia is gently removed to take the several screws that hold the grille to the fascia,
then the '05 grille can be set aside and the late '05-'06 grille can be attached with the same screws. And
let us not forget the GT Guys have a piece that snaps into the bottom and screws into the top within minutes
giving the '06 grille the early '05 look and protection.

Of course I snapped some photos of when I changed mine over, whilst re-attaching a loose fake brake duct.

. . . and if I can do it.
