Staying with the spirit of that old phrase " Necessity is the mother of invention" I had to come up with some rock deflectors.

After returning from a rally I was sad to see my freshly Clear Bra film under my door sills and my Ford GT logo had taking a beating.. so after a slight Delay from dealing with hurricane issues it was off to the Batcave.

What I ended up with was two versions of a rock deflector. One I would call a full air flow setup the other I would call the maximum safety Rock deflector setup. The larger one covers the full width of the tire and intrudes partially into the tunnel area...

Because of the close proximity of being directly behind the tire I really don't think this is going to have much effect on the air flow. I'll probably stay with this setup full-time. But if you do want to change it takes a matter of minutes to Swap them.

These install in minutes using the factory wheel well liner push pins. They are reusable and there's no need to remove the tire. I did the passenger side in less than 3 minutes. The only installation tool required is a interior type plastic pry tool.

This is the first prototype set. I'm going to test the converge. Because the car will drop 2 " you need to leave some space to allow for that. There are pictures in the high mode and the low mode...

Just doing my part to try to help tame this the rock-throwing monster!!..:biggrin

so these would be in addition to the screens that DBK has come up with.
Good work!!

yes, good work Brian.
-- How many layers of clear film did you have on the door bottoms for UTAH ?
--Do you think the impingement only damaged the clear film and FORD logo material ... or do you think it went into the base carbon clearcoat or even the carbon fiber itself?
Please keep us posted,'

They will drag on speed bumps, and will make scary noises. My Stillen's do on the 05.

I'm not sure how deep the impacts went. I'll know when I peel off the clear bra. I think I have a better solution for film protection that I'm going to be working on..

Maybe not with the lift feature. They're made out of 16th inch thick ABS plastic so they're rigid but they will flex..

Great work Brian! I like the simplicity of the design.
Now if you want to dress is up, you can add this:

I would not like to use these on a track that will see the track. In track mode with body roll in the corners or when riding the curbs, these things will drag off the ground

Wait till you drive the car on the track . The suspension is super stiff in track mode,, there is zero body roll....
And I can say with a lot of certainty that most of my heavy pecking was result of my track day. The car is very close to the ground and I would say if a rock kicks up it probably bounces more than once , so on the track as where you need them the most.... the final version will be adjustable but 1" to 1 1/4 inchs clearance on the track should be plenty

You do a very interesting and very useful job.
Thank you for keeping us informed.

Brilliant!

I have 2 layers of PPF under my doors and over the Ford Perf decals. Seems to be holding up. Will follow your product development though. I think the low profile flap is the way to go. If you track the car, it can stay on and the screens can be removed. The bigger flap looks like it would block airflow through the aero tunnel and out the door. Any chance of making the flap out of something more flexible? Thanks for the development and Beta testing!

This is a great idea. I would like a pair once you have settled on optimum dimensions.
