I read on a dealer's website here in Canada that the GT can no longer be imported into Canada?

Is there any truth to this? Anyone here have experience with bringing one north across the border?

Thanks,

Waxy

I don't think that's the case at all. It may be that a Canadian car (late build) may not be importable to the US (this is why the last cars built we're Canadian), but I don't think there's an issue with bringing a US car to Canada. There was a few years ago, but that all got changed with bumper harmonization.

PM spddmnjay as he brought his car up from the US and can probably offer you some tips.

Actually, you may not be able to PM him as you're a spectator. If you look at my profile, you should be able to see my email. His may be visible too, but if not, just post your email here and I'll get in touch with you.

I just imported TWO US cars to canada in the last 2 weeks, so that is definatly NOT TRUE.

I had my doubts, thanks for confirming them.

Superfly, I sent you an email.

Very easily done, no problems at all.
There were bumper issues a few year back, but both country's bumper standards are now the same.
(We lowered our standards:biggrin to the 3 mph U.S specification from 5 mph)

Otherwise the only item that you need modify is to turn on the DRL's
That to make is officially legal, Most inspection center's (Crappy tire)
will let this go without you having to actually have them turned on.
If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me anytime.
I bring in about 8 cars a month into Canada. Porsches, S2000's cargo vans etc

I've imported several cars to Canada, used cars are not the same as an OEM selling a new car, different strokes for different folks.

Yup, Superfly is correct...I imported my GT from the US in Dec. 2008. Contact me if you need information, etc.
