Ford GT 2006 Clutch Replacement Advice Needed

I think I have an OEM clutch in stock. I can check when I'm back from vacation on Saturday.

New supercharger kit 05-06 Ford GT

Torrie, what's the high-end for boost/RWHP with stock fuel system? Back in the day, we were doing Whipple's in the 750+ RWHP with OEM fuel systems, right? I was thinking these newer blowers are more efficient. Anyway, I guess we will see once you get the first couple of cars under your belt.

    New 2005 GT Owner

And I am equally surprised how many people have considered them. Y'all know the fundamental purpose of the clamshell safety latches, right? They're NOT there to make it easy to open but to insure that the clamshell and the car don't part ways if there's a latch failure or a passenger...

New supercharger kit 05-06 Ford GT

Based on our experience, the OEM fuel system is fine with anything up to 800 RWHP. Each owner will have their own objectives of what they want to do with their SC'd GT, but I'd suggest that selecting a pulley size that will get you right about 750-800 RWHP would be the sweet spot. That's...

Ford GT 2006 Clutch Replacement Advice Needed

Have you asked the dealership if their mechanic has done a GT clutch replacement before? I would say that you just don't want to be the first.

    New 2005 GT Owner

The paint code for your silver stripe is TL. The clamshell releases are an easy 1-person task if you open the driver's door and lean into the cut-out as needed to disengage the passenger side. For closing the clamshell, I'd recommend closing it with 6-8" and then a brisk slam from there.

Street price per gram: Ford GT Parts vs Cocaine

Well, I guess I'm a nerd because I had to look at the DOJ's website to learn what the street price of cocaine is. The reference I saw was $40-$60/gram. (YMMV) Well, you know those little ~3/4" round PLASTIC covers on the back of your GT steering wheel that cover the screws that hold on the...

Gets air, fuel and spark then dies/July 4th Parade pics

I'd try removing it and being very careful with the existing gasket so that it can be re-used. I assume you have an OEM throttle body and not an Accufab? Accufabs are good but sometimes come out of adjustment - in which case John has been real good to make a quick tweak and get it back to you.

Gets air, fuel and spark then dies/July 4th Parade pics

I think the non-crank issue may be independent of the start/die problem... and in the heat of the moment, maybe the clutch pedal wasn't fully depressed, etc. An electrical/ground issue would seem a little bit unlikely as the car completes the high-current-draw start operation successfully and...

2006 Ford GT Tire/Rim fitment limit without spacers?

Yes those fit and are the recommended tires. Make sure the fronts have a "Porsche N1" designation.

New headlights for 2005/6MY Ford GT

I think every owner here appreciates the effort, enthusiasm and expertise that you bring to the table in a quest to try to produce headlights for the GT. Undoubtedly, the devil is in the details for which there are likely many. That said, I'm wondering if you have fully explored 3D printing as...

    Mobile 1 Supercar 5W-50W Dexos R

Probably can be... but the Motorcraft 5w50 seems to be good stuff so why change? From the Mobil1 spec sheet, "Mobil 1™ Supercar Motor Oils are recommended by ExxonMobil for General Motors dexosR applications, including high-performance naturally aspirated, turbo-charged, and super-charged...

    05/06 Power Steering Hose Deterioration

As FYI, the original power steering return line hoses lasted about 20 years. These first edition replacement hoses all seem to be weeping pretty bad after 1 year. Just FYI - if you've installed one of these on your car, you really need to get it replaced = perhaps easiest at your next oil...

    Borla/Ford Racing Cat Delete

When I got my GT back in May of 2006, one of the only exhausts available was Ford Racing's Rear Exit Headers. I kept that system on the car for ~3 years before deciding that it was just too loud. I realize that a car enthusiast saying, "it was too loud" is just about as popular as saying "her...

    Belt dressing

I'd say that on average the GT's belts are lasting an average of 20 years or more without any dressing. Replacing the belts every 20-25 years is probably prudent. (Note: The oil pump belt should be replaced every 10 years in my opinion.)

    Ford GT Clutch kit questions

Ford GT clutches driven properly will last a LONG time - prob 100K miles or more. BUT - the life will be CONSIDERABLY shortened with abuse. Abuse may or may not be intentional. I think that by far the most common "abuse" is when new-to-GT drivers inadvertently start out in 3rd gear instead of...
