Oil pressure gauge fluctuation - Yes, another one

extrap, this looks like a bad sender as those are the same symptoms that I had. I am on my second replacement. I may have a new sender as I wanted a backup. Here is a graph that I did showing oil pressure versus RPM. This was done at operating temperature with the factory recommended oil. Jay

change oil in ford gt 2005

Sometimes when cranking the engine, the battery voltage is too low for the oil pressure gauge to "boot up." I confirmed this a long time ago using an external power supply.

    RIP Bob Bondurant

I'm processing some photos for Davis Motorsports. Here is a photo of Bob Bondurant and my friend Don Davis back in the 1970s. This is Don's Ford GT40 MkII, chassis P1012 that he meticulously restored after Peter Revson had a bad crash in 1967. Bob and Don drove this car in numerous races. Jay

Interesting article about the control arm recall

I remember seeing some early GTs at the dealer with "billet" machined arms. Roush did the machining of these in a timely manner. Aluminum Precision Products in Santa Ana, CA did the forgings for the balance of the production cars. It's hard to beat a good forging!

    ‘06 McIntosh stereo issue

I was told by a person at McIntosh (around 2005) that there was an antenna amplifier next to the antenna. Now that was when they were at Ford testing their prototype audio system and I don't know if the production cars had that. I will look at my notes from back then.

Ford GT's Getting Flagged by CARB!

So over a year later I finally got my car to a Referee Station to get it inspected. I live in (Southern) California so the Referee Stations are located at community colleges throughout the state. I did some research and I was allowed to pick a location of my choice. There was one location...

    Jerry Wiegert, Vector Cars, RIP

Jerry Wiegert passed away at the young age of 76. I met him around 1984 when he had a small shop in Venice, CA. He took me for a ride in his prototype, never getting into any type of trouble. He also drove my new at time DeLorean and of course he was NOT impressed! Take care Jerry, RIP .

Ford GT's Getting Flagged by CARB!

Tony, I corrected my original post. I always did have a mild tune installed since I had the Roush pulley back in 2006. I was told that it would easily pass and over the years it always did. So I was rejected the moment the VIN was entered, we never actually tested the car. Jay

Ford GT's Getting Flagged by CARB!

Yup, I got screwed by this about nine months ago. My guy tried three times entering my car's VIN and the same "referee station" message came up. He had never seen this before. I just sent my registration fees in however I do not have a current tag. Not sure what to do. UPDATE on 7/29: I...

    New car questions

Rob, I misunderstood your comment! I have seen a couple of cars where the needle bounces erratically. When my car was two days old the oil pressure gauge needle went to zero while I was going down the freeway! It was only a faulty sender.

    New car questions

It looks like your oil pressure sender is faulty. It's a common problem as I went through three of them. It should have a steady reading that increases smoothly with engine RPM and not bounce around! I have included a graph of the expected oil pressure gauge reading with a known good sender...
