200 mph, Whipple and the Salt Flats

Jorgen My understanding is that if a car can exceed 150 mph it requires a roll cage, fire supression system, parachute, appropriate cut-off switches, and removal of upholstery (no more than 1/2 inch padding on seat bottom, seat extensions that do not allow your head to move side-to-side, plus...

    Arash / Farboud Supercar?

I think you mean Marcos, which if memory serves me corectly had a wood (plywood?) chassis. Also I think the correct spelling of his name is Jem and Gem. Neil probably has additional info. Dave

Trying to keep it as simple as possible. Two angles: First check is written to a charity. Thus a portion is tax deductable as a charitible deduction. If 50% tax bracket maybe $ 400-500,000 Second, since the car will probably be displayed at his 2 dealerships, it is advertising, a legitimate...

Is he the guy that got written up after buying 5 Vettes from a barn in California? If so I think he has a Camaro ZL1. I believe there are several orignal Camaros with the engine. Also in 1969/1970 I was friendly with Don Yenko and I think he had a COPO ZL1 Camaro on his lot that we played...

Daniel You are correct. Actually there are supposedlyy three. A white one that is in Washington State at the Kevin Suydam Collection . The yellow ZL-1 is in the hands of a Corvette collector by the name of Roger Judski of Roger's Corvette Centre in Orlando, Florida. Both have been certified...

I absolutely agree that B-J has promoted a life style and many people want to be part of it. Yes Leno seems to be very, very tight with GM. They helped him with his crazy Toranado and other cars. So he is very nice back to them. Dave:cheers

Absolutely agree Daniel There are enough people who buy Corvettes out there to make # 1 valuable in the future. Look what happened with the last Sting Ray, 1967. Also the earliest C1 Vette I believe is serial # which has a huge premium on the price. What would be interesting is how much some...

Well the winning bidder, a Chevrolet dealer, is probably in a high tax bracket so the car cost him about $ 500,000 taking into account the proceeds went to charity. Next how much did GM provide for him to buy the car? Maybe I'm nuts or maybe I'm closer to the truth than B-J / GM would like...

    High mileage Ford GT

I was amused at what you call a high mileage car. 35,000 and still going. My attitude is what was expressed on air at B-J. One of the commentators has a friend that uses his GT as a daily driver. He asked his friend what happens when the car gets beat-up. Friend replied; That's easy I'll...

    Side chin spoiler screws

It is not unusual to missing screws especially from the belly pan if you drive the car. Same goes for the front spoiler screws. If you over-tighten you can strip them so its a maintenance job from time to time

Mine hooks in through the bottom plug of the iPod and charges as you use it. It is not an RCA plug to the iPod itself

McLaren Mercedes Formula One Unveiling & Shakedown

Yup they didn't do too badly last year at all. After all they were using the Ferrari B team car as they later admitted. Let's see how they do this year after admitting that braking system and other key elements came from the Ferrari drawings they received.

Their V6 is lighter, more economical and has decent performance. This has been rumored for months and was in the New York Times earlier.

200 mph, Whipple and the Salt Flats

The SCTA (Southern California Timing Association) has a whole bunch of tules governing running at Bonneville. This includes safty equipment, including roll cage, tires specs, cut-off switches, etc. You can contact them and get a copy of the rules book. But a stock GT will not qualify. Also...

    Prince of Dubai garage tour

Now I know why I can't get an SLR he bought out the entire production run. To bad the "tour" didn't include the one-off special Ferraris that he has bought over the years and highly inflated prices.
