I have separate switches for my lifts and as added insurance I use a wide mouth vice-grip upstream but tight against the bottom panel roller in the valley of the track....easy on;easy off.

My blend door stopped working several years back..... Knowning it was a major PITA to repair I avoided it for a few months and it started working again on its own and works fine to this day. So maybe you could be so lucky........
