Exactly.

Volvo marine diesels are turboed and SC'ed, once they reach a certain RPM an A/C style clutch mounted on the SC disengages the SC and it runs on the turbo. This setup has NO LAG at all and makes the little 6 cylinder diesel feel like a monster.

My car made the exact same noise, annoying as hell. Ford changed the evaporator, expansion valve and fan motor, I doubt there was anything wrong with those components, but somewhere along the way the noise went away. Think about whether or not the noise bothers you enough to warrant taking...

What about reliability? Just how much HP can one get out of the stock FGT internals?

This reminds me of the 80's Koenig specials that were twin turboed and SCed. What's the advantage to this setup?
