    loose control under acceleration?

I have owned my GT for only 200 miles but I have already had it get a little sideways on me, about 200 feet before turning into my driveway to put it away for the winter. I let off and it corrected pretty easily. But I have been watching this issue and it does seem like there may be some...

Three GT's with P-51 and Apache

Very true but I got them for free, and I will be able to kid him about his measuring prowess for years to come. First thing he screwed up in many years and a lot of jobs. He has done a lot of work for me and he is currently doing all of the masks for a T-34 paint job.

Three GT's with P-51 and Apache

My car was repaired after a trip through a barb wire fence by the previous owner. I had a local company replicate the stripes since he rented from the friend with the other red GT in the photos In another thread someone noticed that the stripes looked too big. So somehow he either measured...

Three GT's with P-51 and Apache

Bought the Mustang in 1989 and the Corsair in 1999. They can be seen at aircombatmuseum.com The neatest thing about the Warbirds is meeting the guys who flew them in WW2. They are some of the neatest guys I have ever met. Great attitudes and they really know how to enjoy their lives...

Three GT's with P-51 and Apache

No rides but they did sit in the cars and the P-51. It was really neat seeing them come in as a formation of 4. It was a little chilly and the winds were over 25 mph Mustang has a 2 speed Supercharger that shifts into high blower around 12 to 13,000 feet. Don't know how the boost compares to a...

Three GT's with P-51 and Apache

Got 3 of the 4 GT's in town to get together for a photo shoot with my P-51. Even though the 4th GT was one hanger away it has never been driven so it did not make it. My car with the soon to be replaced stripes. While we were taking these pictures 8 Apache helicopters and a Chinook landed...

It's done put 70 miles on it today

Adding pictures in a couple hours of three GT's and the Mustang Found out the stripe guy made a mistake. I am going to give him the works on this issue and naturally I will suggest that he lies to his wife when he measures anything. Bill did you keep the 308? And are the fins mounted.

It's done put 70 miles on it today

I will have to check the stripes My buddy who has the exact same car rents to the top graphic guy in town, in the same building he keeps his GT. So he had them copy his car for my decals. I am taking my car over to his shop Sunday and I will check this out. Thanks for the heads up on that...

It's done put 70 miles on it today

Thanks for the advice I plan on getting one of those trays and I never noticed the netting until it was mentioned here. Just got back from the garage and found the pockets and of course banged my head again. I will definitely move the kids scooter, good Eyes. I just had the garage floor...

It's done put 70 miles on it today

Finally it is done and I was able to pick up my daughter from grade school on her 14th birthday. I drove the GT for 70 miles and it does create quite a stir from drivers and pedestrians. Not quite as much as the Mosler but it does attract a lot of attention. Bumped my head at least 10 times on...

Just had my salvaged 2005 delivered

I believe my Corsair came back from Honduras in 1984 so it was there for quite some time. I had the same discussion with my dad in 1974. There was a P-51 for sale at Oshkosh for 64,000 and my dad just had the family home appraised for the same amount. I tried to get him to sell the house and...

Just had my salvaged 2005 delivered

Getting close to being done, red went on yesterday and stripes will be added soon. Next glass and assembly. Scratches came out of the lights just fine and still should be under my 15k budget although the $1,100 paint bill was more then I expected. Can't wait to get it done. I always pick up my...

    What would you rather have?

I purchased Worry Bird in 1989 when I was 27 years old and I rate relative speed by what I have found to be the brick wall they seem to hit were more diving and more throttle just doesn't seem to add more speed. The Mustang will easily hit 300 knots or 360 mph and I have had it faster then that...

    What would you rather have?

Normal power settings for P-51, 36 inches manifold pressure, 2400 rpm, 60 gph, indicated airspeed 270mph, or 235 knots, true airspeed 308 mph Corsair 30 inches, 2000 rpm, 85gph, indicated speed 210 knots. This is why the P-51 has been widely accepted as such an important tool in winning the...

    What would you rather have?

I tried to send PM's in order to not hijack this discussion but I do not have access for some reason. I bought the Corsair in 1999 and after an engine fire in 2001 painted it in the 513th colors after a local pilot friend. Rest of collection can be seen at aircombatmuseum.com My GT should be...

    What would you rather have?

Waldo I already have one of these My next car will have a 10 or 12 cylinder 10,000 rpm motor. Trying to figure that out now. Not sure what will handle the rpm's but with today's technology who knows. I always liked the Corvette GT race cars, there is a replica out there but they don't look...

Need radiator, condenser and rear bumber cover

Last couple of parts I will need to finish my repairs are the Radiator, air conditioner condenser, and the rear bumper cover. Looks like the trip it took through the fence pushed the condenser up just enough to bend it. I have an order getting ready from the dealer for some small brackets and...

Just had my salvaged 2005 delivered

My guess is my friend is the tuner you are speaking of. My car is in his shop now and he has been helping me. He has even fixed some of the things when he got bored. There are two other GT's here but both of them are museum pieces and never driven. One of them has never been driven since...

Just had my salvaged 2005 delivered

I live in Springfield Illinois but I am not sure where the accident happened. 4,000 estimate is for parts and I already have that covered. It doesn't count the headlights but I believe I can buff out the scratches. A lot of my background is in rebuilding aircraft were sometimes the parts are...
