I was just looking at mine yesterday, it is the same. I too was thinking of using a spacer. What did you use? One concern I did have, without the spacer (stock) the gas pedal would "bottom out" on the metal bracket at full throttle. With the spacer, full throttle would be reached sooner...

Can anyone explain why the C6 Z06 is so fast? Don't they usually make around 440 to 450 to the wheels? The GT (mine anyway) makes 535 whp, give or take a few. Shouldn't 80 or 90 horsepower, at the tire, and mid-engine traction, be able to overcome the Z's 300lb advantage?
