Honestly, this is NOT a good way to assess the health of the alternator... especially on a vehicle notorious for faulty gauges. Use a simple voltmeter to measure voltage at the alternator when the car is running. You should get a reading somehere between 13.5 to 14.5V which would indicate that...

You might consider replacing the studs with ss button head screws with a small washer. When new, these vents shipped with a set of those screws. I think the washers distribute the load a little better on the underside of the clamshell and will mitigate any possibility of cracking or damaging...

Accufab has been out of stock for awhile. Both the Accufab and the OEM upgrade kit are good kits that solve the problem. I'd say we've installed an equal number of each and have never had any problem with either one.

For sure, it will not. A bad/low battery prevents proper gauge initialization but will not fix a "sticky" gauge... which is the first symptom of a gauge failing completely.

There is probably a core charge.... either that or when you bought the car, you really didn't buy all of it.
