Performance power went 283 in the mile a couple days ago kennedy space center... WOW

I certainly think it would not be that hard to contact Guinness and place some kind of formal challenge against this "record". Certainly it has been done before with the many records that they have in their books. I'm sure there is a procedure just like at any other record level competition. I...

Performance power went 283 in the mile a couple days ago kennedy space center... WOW

Well it's unfortunate for an incident like this to be so controversial. You will have the people that you can sell anything to believing it. (Unfortunately thats more than you think) And you will have the rest who actually know better, trying to figure out how someone was able to fool the...

Performance power went 283 in the mile a couple days ago kennedy space center... WOW

Well, knowing what I know about going fast, the equation doesn't add up. 1500 HP wont get you to 283 mph unless the track faces downhill at a 45 degree angle. Ray's car and Mark's car make over 2000 hp. A stellar launch will only add a little to the top end speed as its all horsepower at that...

    Oil pump seal

The seal is not available from Ford. You can only but the complete assembly. I have a comparable seal that we use in all of our rebuilds. The seal is very unlikely to leak, normally a leak comes through the ID bushing. Thanks John Accufab Inc

A Special Thanks to John Mihovetz

Thanks, John. It was good talking to you today. It's been a long time since that Motor Trend shoot. Glad that you guys chose us to participate in your engine program. I am looking forward to stepping it up again the next time they go out. They did a great job and it was nice to be a part of a...

    Balanced Camshaft?

Specifically about the turbo engine, the turbine is spun by the volume and velocity of air forced through the turbine. A lower compression engine just by nature makes less cylinder pressure thus less BANG when it fires. So the turbo is slower to respond and ultimately cannot make as much...

    Balanced Camshaft?

Here's the answer I have for cam balancing specific to this application. The valvetrain in these engines is very sensitive. Far more sensitive than anyone really understands as a practical matter of discussion. Every cam profile I have developed over the years one of the most important...

John Mihovetz [ ACCUFAB ] Modifying my crankshaft

Ford used the IW part because it was cheaper not better. Bean counters I guess. I recently saw 2 2011 Mustangs back to back on the dyno break the oil pump gears after installing the "other" balancer. I told the customer not to use this balancer but he insisted anyway. Both engines are locked up...

John Mihovetz [ ACCUFAB ] Modifying my crankshaft

I was hoping to avoid this subject but... I simply would not use any other balancer than ATI. If you can afford a $160,000 car, you can afford a good balancer. As for drilling the crank and using a roll pin, due to the limited space and the inherent half ass idea of that, I would prefer the...

John Mihovetz [ ACCUFAB ] Modifying my crankshaft

Its kinda funny how there are so many opinions about this subject from so many that have never seen the internals of this engine. I know of a couple failures already and have fixed a couple. Not everyone posts their failures on this or any message board just so you know. Some poeple actually...

John Mihovetz [ ACCUFAB ] Modifying my crankshaft

I am not in the business of crying wolf unless I see one. Everyone has been advised of the issue. No, there is no easy fix, but I do have one. Don't wait until the balancer flies off because the repair costs will probably be triple due to the damage done. As for Ford, theres a reason that they...

John Mihovetz [ ACCUFAB ] Modifying my crankshaft

The issue with the crank is simple. It is fine in the application it was designed for. Adding a Whipple is outside of that design parameter. Now, that does not mean to call Whipple and complain either. Its simple physics and some good old common sense. The keyway is very small, the factory bolt...
