Does it take a lot more effort to get the shifter out of reverse than from any other gear? I hadnt driven my car in a few weeks so I cant remember if thats normal or not. I almost have to yank the shifter out of reverse and into neutral. All other gears are as smooth as I can remember.

Thanks guys.

'Don't have that issue here, kumar.

oh :(

I think I need to find a new hobby.

If he duzzunt see this thread & reply, PM ol' Shadowman and ask him (or Nota4re, or other "tech" savy people here on The 'Forum).

My bet is a simple shifter cable adjustment will fix the pblm.

If it is as you describe; meaing that you have to yank it out of reverse then I would say that something is not happy.

If anything folks find that it can take a certain snapping wrist action to get it into reverse however to pull it out of reverse should be very easy.

So please share;

It is difficult to get out of reverse when sitting and the engine off, when the engine is running or both?

Takes care

Problem occurs all the time, regardless if the car is running or not. Im contemplating whether to leave it alone unless things get worse or take it in now. dont exactly have a lot of faith in dealers.

At least get the problem on paper, maybe helpful down the road.

Based on your experinces I would have the linkage adjusted during which time the shifter should be looked at just to make certain that a mechanical bind has not started. I do not suspect the shifter but rather a minor cable adjustment

In any case I would have it corrected.

Please keep us updated

All the best

Still on the factory shifter or has it been replaced by a new short throw?... Stan

Still factory shifter. I might schedule an appointment with the dealer later this week. I just hate taking my car in especially now that its out of warranty. It feels like you guys on the board know 10x more than the tech at the dealer would.

That's 'cause guys like Shadowman & Nota4re have had 100 times more experience with these cars than the average dealer's tech!:lol:cheers

Out of warranty??? thats funny..when we did the upgrades to our cars they were done at Middlekauf..hell Rick was the first in line for EVERYTHING!

I doubt a tech would know my car didn't come with that big chrome thing on the motor :)
