so. ca.
Today I went to one of the local Indian casinos in Hemet and valet parked my wifes 05 mustang gt. After we lost our $$ we went to pick up the car and the valet decited to take it out back for a burnout.
Well he lost control and hit a MBZ and then took her car thru 2 fences, first one was pvc railing then into a chainlink fence.
He said some crap about hitting the gas petal instead of the brake:bs:bs:bs

Anyway the car uis all f-up. They took the kid off to the hospital for a wrist injury and a drug test and I requested that he was terminated.
The casino accepted full responcabilty "DUH" and promiced to make good.

The bright side is I wanted to take my GT, but the wife talked me out of it. :thumbsup
Needless to say valet no more. I will not hand my keys for MY car out again. Now the BS of repair shops and rentals need to be deal with. Well this means its now BUD time.

Sorry to hear about that ... good thing it wasn't the Gt.. we'd be starting a bail fund .. oh wait we have FUBAR for that.

You might want to check out about having them replace the car entirely. Being a casino (read that as license to print money) they most likely would do that just to avoid the bad PR.

Hi Todd,
First sorry to hear of your grief.
Second, there are sites that help calculate deminshed values, do a google search.
Third, you are dealing with a soverign nation, so they can be difficult if they want to be, sugar gets more flies than vingar. I know you are a gentleman.
How about a Makers Manhattan?
Cheers,
daniel

Screw diplomacy. Go in guns blazing :lol

Just kidding. Seriously, that's a terribly bullshit thing to happen. Thank goodness it wasn't the GT. Hopefully, they take care of you adequately, especially because it's a casino. Good luck.

Yes I am pissed but what good does that do. It would be nice to get a new car but you are right Bony Indians play by differant rules. I will know more Mon. when the casino manager calls me.

Sovereign Nation .... in this case would only apply to property that is owned by a member of the tribe. Something similar happened in Oklahoma a few years ago. Meaning damage to property on indian land. The court upheld (at least as read in the newspaper) that the tribe was responsible for damages to property and ordered accordingly.

They maybe a sovereign nation but the rule of law still applies.

Todd,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but as you mentioned, at least it wasn't your GT.

Your experience raises an interesting question for me. The wife and I are planning on taking the GT to Vegas in a couple of weeks. When staying overnight at a respectable hotel, what do most owners do to protect their GT's?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe go in with the solution in hand. Pick out your replacement vehicle and
present the info to them in a matter of fact way. Play dumb as if the only remedy that could be imagined would be a new vehicle.

sorry charlie, no starkiss for you.
the casino is on the reservation, as it must be in California, it is a soverign nation. end of story.

Since we are on the subject, a valet backed my GT into one of those concrete blocks that are found in parking spots. You guessed it, the rear diffuser is now chipped in some places and shaved off in others. I previously said on this forum that I would never let anyone valet my car and this is what I got the first time I did just that. I learned my lesson. ....but now it's a good excuse to replace the stock diffuser with Stillen's Upgraded Difuser :biggrin My 'loss' is minimal compared to Todd's; I wish you the best outcome possible from all of this.

Todd, as much time as the wife spends there go for diress and cruelity :lol

All kidding aside - glad the kid lived for you to nuke him later. Lets go blow him up in September

Talk to ya soon .... Left VM

Bony thanks for posting all the web links :thumbsup
Interesting reading but they all boiled down to the same thing. The insurance company says there is no such thing as DV. But when you sell your car you wont get as much for it.
So if the is no such thing as DV then why is Carfax in buisness?
This whole reservation matter is grey to me because Bally's runs this casino and they subcontract out the valet service.
So the kid who wrecked our car was technically not a casino employee.
But the manager on duty said the "casino" would pay the bill. So as of now I dont know where I stand.:confused

Hello Todd,
I am sure they will attempt a reasonable settlement. I would not waste my time with dealing with them, clearly not your fault, let your insurance company handle it for you,
I assume their own security force wrote a report. On most reservations the city police or CHP or sheriff can't come on the property unless invited by the tribal police.
Regarding your question, Carfax is in business to protect buyers.
Good luck my friend.
Cheers,
daniel

Shoot, Bony ... I thought that had already been done...

The wife and I are planning on taking the GT to Vegas in a couple of weeks. When staying overnight at a respectable hotel, what do most owners do to protect their GT's?

Thanks in advance.

Last November, when we went on the group drive from Temecula to Palm Springs, my wife and I ended up at the Hilton to stay overnight. I was pretty worried, as the GT was a month old and just 1,000 miles. Some of the fellow members were like, "You are going to leave your car parked overnight?" And I was with my wife, so I couldn't show that I was over stressed about my car. When we arrived, I cruised the parking lot and the spaces in the regular section as well as Valet were very tight and the lot was packed (Sat night).

I talked to the Hotel Manager about parking options (just said I have a new sportscar) when I checked in and he suggested I talk to the valets and give a tip of $20 or so. So, I talked to the valets, mentioned that I would like to keep the key, they said no problem, he said give me $30 and you can park your car in front of the hotel, we will block it with a couple orange traffic pylons and no one will drive it (as mentioned, I kept the key).

I tipped an additional $5-10 each time I came and left with the car, and everyone was happy. It was a great relief. The staff was cool about it and we had a nice trip. If it was jammed into the regular or VIP lot, it would have been stressful...

Yeaaaaaah ... but, 'twas still out in the open and accessible to the hoards. (And summa THEM keep "keys" too...if you get my drift.:eek)
