Today was such an incredible day for me. I have never been so nervous and yet so excited getting in a race car as I was today. Greg allowed me the privilege of driving the Matech GT at Spring Mountain. I have been fortunate to have driven some incredible cars, including race cars like current Le Mans LMP cars, but this was so special. Having watched this actual car compete at Le Mans and knowing the background of this car made it something of a dream come true for me. I apologize for the poor video, but I think you can get a sense of how incredible this thing still is as a race car. A few pics as well. All I can say is thank you Greg for this incredible opportunity. :thumbsup

Congratulations Terry, what a great experience.

That’s really awesome Terry, thanks for sharing!

That ‘old’ GT and its’ original race livery are still amazing!

Really cool opportunity. Something special indeed

Still looks the part too. Cool.

Awesome Terry!!!! Looks like a lot of fun. Geez, that's a manly shifter. Looks like the opposite of being "delicate"!

Yes sir, I thank the Man upstairs every day for all of the blessings in my life.

Yes, That GT attracts crowds when Greg has it out. We tell the stories and point out the GT Forum and names. One of the most repeated questions is who is "Myself Himself" ? I actually don't know the story behind that one.

Exactly, you had to really give a firm motion to make the shift, I was amazed it actually felt pretty natural other then the amount of force needed.

Terry,

I’ll tell you the story behind that then. The actual name badges didn’t say that. Shortly after the race at Le Mans all of those name badges were carefully removed and sent to me along with the spark plugs that were in those cars during the race. I used them to make the “Friend of the Forum” awards that DBK, Raj, Henry Ford III, Ray Hofman, Joe Dozzo, and Mark McGowan received.

The names are small and while recreating the 2010 Le Mans livery they didn’t have a clear close up of the actual name badges and some were not clear enough to read on the photos of the race car that they had. So they guessed or just made up the names they couldn’t read. The cars today are also missing the grey sponsor name stickers that were on the inside of the cars during the race. If Lance wants to fix those inaccuracies I can help. Here’s a clear copy of the actual badges that were on both Matech GT’s at Le Mans in 2010. Cheers.

Chip
