Will they go for MSRP?

I'll take a wild guess and say NOPE! I don't know of any highly anticipated car that has gone for MSRP at launch. Heck, dealers were still selling GT500's with a markup not long ago.

Ooof. That looks nice.

I think it's extremely likely these will sell for over MSRP, but who knows for how long.

Is it a wet or dry sump?

No mention of it being dry sump so if it was dry sump I would have expected them to make a big deal about it.

It's not a dry sump.

The white doesn't look Wimbledon White. :(

Maybe it's just the photos? Yeah, some cheesy black plastic on the front. That can be dealt with. Will they go for MSRP?

It's not a dry sump.

On a 'track-oriented' street car? Was it cost or some design prohibition?

Platform hard points, more than adequate wet sump oiling, where to fit external oil pump, tank, hoses, yadda yadda.

That rear 3/4 view is nice. The car looks perfectly proportioned with the flared front fenders.

I thought it would be a dry sump, but I wondered where they would put the tank. Engine bay space is scarce.

Gary, aren't you glad you didn't fritter away your new car money?

This is just the beginning-R version not far behind.

From Ford press Q&A

No dry sump
No direct injection
Extra engine displacement is all bore
Everything from the A pillar forward is different from the GT. In the rear, the rear lower diffuser is different but rear quarter panels are the same.
Benchmarked against 4 cars: 911 Carrera S (main benchmark), Ferrari California (since it is a front engine FPC), C7, and Z28.
"It is its own beast." Do not want to equate it as a Boss replacement or GT500.
How does it compare to the 302 or GT500 on the track? "Not really comparable. Way faster.. an order of magnitude faster"
About same production numbers as the GT500

295s up front and 305s out back!
It also has an 8200 rpm redline!

Redline is only a durability measure. It continues to make power well beyond.

F*#K Yeah!

I haven't done the math, but if the extra 0.2L is bore, it's close to a square. Plenty of stroke (and flat crank) for torque, but can still rev like hell.

No mention of how they smoothed out the flat crank.

Think it would be wise to sell my '95 and '00 R models for this?

Also, I did get permission to say that I got to spend a day driving around an NVH engineer in a Ferrari 458 I provided covered in microphones so they could do some NVH analysis. It was really boring, but still nerve wracking watching some guy in a transit (or whatever) doing emergency lane changes coming towards us. :lol

Not from a collectibility standpoint. Note production #s for the GT350 projected to be in the GT500 range (4k plus cars/year). The R will be more limited, naturally, but I'm not sure if it will have a vin. I expect it will, but who knows.

That is very cool Dave. How does the GT350 sound at full tilt compared to the F-car?

I mean, the GT350 sounds like a real mf-er. It instantly becomes one of the best sounding engines in domestic history.

458 has more of a scream to the tone. GT350 has more of the growl that the FPC in the MP4 does, but they all sound very distinct.

Think of this too: With Ferrari abandoning the N/A V8 in favor of smaller displacement turbo V8s, and Chevrolet ditching the LS7 formula in favor of a blown motor for the Z06, Ford will be the last man standing with a 500+ hp N/A V8. My how the tables have turned...

Where are you guys seeing info about an R model?

You want cheese, look at the hideous new Z06 rear spoiler, this 350 looks awesome. It"s gotta be able to beat the M3, Cayman S and be less $$ than the 2 to really shine
