Fox News had Craig Jackson from BJ Auction on this morning to discuss their latest auction and the move from the SpeedTV channel to Fox Sports. They were reporting from the streets of downtown New York and they had a few cars with them. A Merc Gullwing, The Maharaja's kitted out Rolls Royce for hunting, and a red FGT that they forecasted would go for up to $400K.

The FGT is keeping some nice company.

If that is even close my would be gone today, put a little cash in and buy 2 from Marv or Shelby

The "delivery miles" psychology is something I can't understand.

agree - the most fun I have with the FGT is driving it! Not just looking at it.

Frank - just think that if you were like EP and never drove your red car you could have made some $$$ versus driving the flat lands of Illinois.

$400k :eek

i hope so....

Some men prefer virgins and will pay extra for the privilege.

On that note.............when you are talking about a performance car, a higher value is definitely placed on a car that is new. You don't have questions such as;

- Was it beat on?
- Did Genaddi do full torque doughnuts with it at Rally II?
- Was it properly maintained?
- Etc...........

"Did Genaddi do full torque doughnuts with it at Rally II?"

That's funny!

Ok, except that it is not a new car. It's a seven or eight year old car with no miles. "Was it properly maintained?" is still an issue. In fact, IMO, by definition it has not been properly maintained, which requires driving. For example, Scott Ahlman has hypothesized that coilover seals may fail from lack of use. A/C, etc.

Are full torque donuts bad? :lol

Bad for the tires, it didn't seem to hurt the sales of the car.

They will still command substantially higher premiums than driven-cars with miles.

Mine was delivered with 3.2 miles. If a new car has more than that it has "I took it for a few spins but since you bought it I will deliver it with xxx delivery miles".
This Includes the ones that Ford tested, they took it for a spin to make sure it fell within the build specs.

Free Virgins are most valuable.

How many miles were put on the Ford tested cars?

I think Mark said 50 miles.

All the owners whose cars were factory tested got a letter stating so. It was about 50 miles. Don't forget, the chip had to have about five mles on it before you could use the supercharger. This is similar to the new Shelbys.

Since most new cars are sold with a full tank of gas, I bet more than a few dealers didn't fill the tanks at the closest gas station, but rather one more than 5 miles away.

Mine was on the showroom floor, still with the plastic (pro·phy·lac·tic) on the seats and steering wheel. 7 miles on the odometer, and black, no stripe. Nobody touched this b!tch and she was mine........no matter what the dealership's pimp wanted for her.

Yeah........boyeeeeeeeeeeee!

Actually my FGT SC clicked in at ~40 miles. What a feeling! I just got home, took the wife out, juiced it and Bam - It's Alive!

I thought the context was clear, but...I like new cars with delivery miles too. It's the bidding of 7-8 year old cars with delivery miles into the stratosphere that I don't get. :)

If its a delivery mile car, this last one is an unequivocal NO. There is no way to properly maintain a car in proper working order for 10 years without driving it. At this point a car like that is best left as a museum piece and never driven.
