I find it strange I've never read or seen a review where they mention that the McLaren is just much, much faster.

That's because the professional reviewers get faster cars. And a team full of engineers. Plus one car for straight line test, and one for turns. Or so I've heard.

Can't wait to get mine back from the shop and see what the sportcats bring. The accelarations with that thing are an addiction I just can't get enough. Even with the setbacks on mine I think it's a very well balanced car in which you have a fantastic feedback of the handling.

Have you experienced any electronic gremlins so far??

My Iris system has been pretty buggy. Been back to the dealer twice. They replaced its cpu and finally seems better

No gremlins yet. The nav system took a couple days to figure out where the car was, which is pretty strange, but that's it.

Interesting thread.

I just decided on and purchased a 458 over the mclaren. I have to say I love both cars and clearly, atleast in my opinion, the mclaren is a better driving car (speed, track, everyday) then the 458 and it is less expensive but I just dont like the looks of it. Too "normal" for a car that costs what it does and performs the way it does.

One other issue is in Cleveland the closest dealer is in Chicago which worried me a little bit since it would have been under warranty and I did nt feel like having to put it on a truck because of some silly light or something like that.

Good luck with it. Any car that runs a 10. something quarter mile cant be all that bad:-))))

Im glad you are gremlin free:). I still find it an Uber car with fantastic handling. The 458 has perhaps some more show appeal but who cares if you're behind the wheel. There's too much "Tu m'as vu" cars on the market but in the end of the day the only thing that counts is the one that puts a smile on your face.

I really want one these things...I think within the next 12 months it'll be in my garage!

spyder............................ hmmmmm beach house or a spyder. Same decision point as when I bought the FGT in 05

Might have to stop up and see GTDrummer as I am building the Richmond market for a wireless company

Stop by anytime. The Mac spider and 458 coupe remain---- at present.

I want that spider.

McLaren isn't messing around. 3220 with a little over half a tank of gas. The only other car I've weighed in this scale was a Lamborghini LP570-4 Performante, which weighed in at 3820. Ouch.

Surprised it was that heavy. You sure you didn't have copies of your old avatars in the bonnet?

Portly... subtract 1000lbs powered with 550 horse powers :biggrin
