Take a look at this link for the cars they are auctioning off , I bet there will be some good deals based on the current economy in the US

Red/white FORD GT is in there

Man there are some sweet cars in there! I'll bet the Superformance Cobra goes cheap and only 1100 miles on it. The 2005 GT2 has only 70 miles on it. Talk about in the wrapper.

Do these cars come with clear titles? Clear may not be correct... Salvage? Some other designation that would detract from true resale value?

Thanks,

Steve, I was in a restaurant when I read this on my I-Pad, and I laughed out loud!

That's why Sam has one and paid with a stack of 100's. :lol

Thanks,

Usually if they are sold at a Government auction, they give you paperwork that supercedes any state title...so one can register and title it in your own state. Not considered a salvage title, but something might show up on car fax...like a repossession..( If there is a lien on the vehicle, these papers from the Gov't will void that too} But, since they seem they will be sold by Manheim Auctions, then I believe they would come with a title..... Don't be fooled by those auctions that they will go cheap....sometimes they bring more...according to whom shows up......I have been to some where I could of purchased cars cheaper from a dealer....with all the guarantees....

I pay cash for everything I own, if I can't afford it, I don't buy it. The first GT I had to take $100 bills with me because the idiot dealership (Raceway Ford Riverside) did not want a Cashier Check. I sat at the dealership for 45 minutes while he made photocopies of all the bills - what a moron - he said that was their policy in case the money was counterfeit. He would not take a wire either because their policy was not to give out their account #...

I rest my case!

Assuming sound mechanical shape, I wonder what that Superformance Cobra might go for? It sure is pretty, and I've read they're "Viper-like" in its driving characteristics (sans cornering agility)--meaning too much power for the weight, and would as soon kill you as kiss you. :-)

Looks like about the most fun you could have in a $40-$70K car...

I'm unable to pull up any info on these vehicles being auctioned. Is this a dealers only auction or is it open to the public?

Truly sorry to have opened this can of worms Sam.

On another note, I call dibs on Sam's mansion:lol

You have to have the DEA clear it out first.

I happen to own a superformance cobra in the same color as shown on the auction list , I think every true car guy on this planet should at one time in his life drive a cobra , they are so far out of whack when it comes to HP to weight ratio that it isnt even funny

Its like driving a fire breathing dragon and as a close to driving a full blown race car on the road as you will ever get , mine has close to 600HP and weighs 2200lbs , i know guys who have ones with close to 1000Hp

And the sound , it is so sweet

And the attention the car grabs is nothing to be overlooked , certainly not a car for a shy guy

gtforme, I agree with you 100%. My Superformance is 550 HP with 500 ft lbs of torque, and it is the craziest, most dangerous car I have ever driven. A forum member I gave a ride to I believe said "this is insane" or something to that effect. I have had mine for over five years, and it puts a stupid grin on my face every time I drive it.

I love the colors of the one in this auction. If it could be bought in the low 40's, assuming it is in the condition it should be with those miles on it, it would be a great buy.

Side story, last week, I gave a ride to a 14 year old boy who I hadn't met before who was way in to cars. He was the typical stoic type, ie: I don't smile much. When I got him on a short straight away and floored it, he had the biggest $hit eating grin you could imagine. His Mom told me he has talked of practically nothing but his ride since. I think he is a convert. This happened to me when I was eight years old in an original 427 Cobra, and I never forgot that.

I know this is a FORD GT forum but lets exchange pics of our SPF cobras anyways

Beautiful! What year is that?

Re the Cobra: I have a Shelby CSX 427 and it is a beast. Mine is a Roush427 with 550HP and 550tq. It would much rather spin in circles than go straight, especially with the rock hard street tires on it. I'm thinking of changing to billboards if I can find a set. I'd keep the Cobra and get a Ford GT but the boss doesn't like it (the Cobra) and will no longer ride in it. They are noisy, smelly, rock like a baby cradle at idle, too windy, too ... In short, A Man's Car. It is, "All the fun you can have, legally, sitting in a seat in public with your clothes on".

Also, it's not like you are driving a race car. You are driving a race car.

Its a 2003 in new condition with about 2000 miles on her

They are very hard to come by here in Canada as Superformance cobras were only allowed to be imported into Canada for a couple of years and there are only about 60 of them in the entire country , no more will ever be allowed according to the DOT
