The winter blahhs

1/2 mill. for a 1250 sq ft 2 bedroom condo sounds expensive when he says he stole it.

Sound like a steal for CA!

Moved to SanClemente 16 years ago from L.I. New York, never looked back or regretted the move. If you're thinking about SoCal, my only recommendation would be to stick to the Coast.

That is good advice, the central valley gets hot in the summer, but it feels a lot like the midwest in many ways.

Agree! The real steal is the state pulling 10pct in taxes. Good post on the residency, would love to figure a way to "reside" in Nevada.

10.3% top income tax rate with sales tax from 8.25 to 9.75% and probably going to go up in the near future. That combined with a state budget problems second only to IL and NY, why would anyone want to claim permanent residence in CA? I didn't even get into gun control. :ack

Blackice

You noted a top income tax rate of 10.3% and sales taxes of 9% +/- , how would you like a rate of 43% for top income and a 12% tax on everything in existence here in BC , Canada

If we only had what California has for taxes we would think we died and went to heaven

I think he is only counting state tax. Federal tax is even steeper.

Moved after retirement, ran away from home when I turned 50. The only down side was leaving the kids, but they found us.
