couldn't find first gear? launched in third?

BTW - where are you changing it? backyard?

Don't let the car sit to long otherwise it will become southern lawn furniture.......

Did somebody give you guys these things for Halloween when you were Trick or Treating?

'Appears this may have been caused by a loose nut...behind the 'wheel! :lol :cheers

It is Quite unusual not to see the pressure plate blue (in color) from excessive heat?
I am not convinced this failure is a typical thermal failure.

And I have never seen the clutch pressure plate broken like the photo?

I am leaning toward a shock load failure.

As the clutch plates seem to be intact.
And not birds nested like a normal thermal failure as well?

Would like to hear the details about how this car was being operated just be for it stopped moving?

Alex, I agree it does not appear to be a thermal failure of the pressure plate as blueing would be apparent.

No Mike, Manny did not launch in third gear. He was on the Texas mile about half way down the runway when the puff of smoke appeared and something was definately amiss. I was watching his run.

I am sure Dennis and Rich will have him back running again and it is most probably done by now with a new Stillen clutch as the GT guys are in Miami.

Interesting failure though.....

I will leave the Driver nameless as he has been known to be rough on equipment in the past.

The day before at the road track I- I mean the driver felt a slight "give" on a couple of shifts. But you know these things just go away so...

The next day at the mile on the first and only real run everything felt just fine. First. second. and then 3rd slipped and hit the rev.limiter, shift 4th fine, 5th fine--- all was well hit 181 (180.98 for Stormcats sake).

Next run-- I thought about the 3rd gear start too as I was hurrying to go before the lunch recess. So... 1st good to 5k then swoosh clutch slipped I could barely tell, 2nd who remembers, 3rd forget it.

Rich, said while they were developing our cars they tried very hard to duplicate what I did with no luck. His opinion is that there had to be some type of defect in the metal somehow, somewhere.

But no problems--- the best in the business have taken care of it! A special thanks to Rich and Dennis. Not only do they do awesome work on our cars but they are genuinely great persons.

Yes, thanks to the GT guys for their work.

I moved up from a cracked borla to GT guys X pipe. Its got a really nice sound, loud when you want it, but pretty quite cruising at 70. 80 was a bit too much hum for my wife.
