hey guys,

I picked up our new gt last week and because of lisence plates issues we transported it on a truck. But stupid as I am, I was in third gear. The truck's loading platform was so steep that the engine stopped 3 times. In the end (it was 9 years ago since I last drove a manual car) I let slip the clutch so much that I burned it. It stank for 2 days!!!!. I gues I will have to replace it. Do you have any suggestion of what clutch I should put in?

Has anybody of you put a protective shield over the car? Is that a do or a do'nt?

thanks guys for helping a GT dummy

Tell us where you're at for good service places. Look at the posts about the Stillen clutch as a replacement for stock.

'Depends on how you intend to drive it...HARD or just "normal". 'Stillen clutch for the former...stocker for the latter, IMO. (I'd look at that flywheel pretty close too.)

DO NOT HAUL THE CAR WITH A COVER ON IT!!!!!
The wind will blow it around so much that it will rub on the paint and scratch it. Just because the clutch stinks, does not mean its bad. Drive it and see if it slips. if you gotta replace it, go with the stillen clutch! Sorry to hear of your troubles. Which car did you get?

I m in Europe Benelux

Luxembourg, Brussels, Antwerp, the Netherlands

You name it, I'll bring it

I looked at this thread because I thought it was about me.

I'm sorry that you have gotten off on the wrong foot with your GT. Rest assured, it will all be worth it when you get the issues sorted out.

i got a tungsten car with all five options.

Thinking of putting the Geiger black/silver wheels on

has any european owner put in a european spec radio?

with the shield I mean a sheet which sticks on it for a few years. You have it transparent and in colours. I have a 1/18 model from auto art stickered in carbin fiber look.

All 5 options? Interesting.......
Was the 5th option the burnt clutch option?

Those wheels are sweet! Send us some pics if you get them :thumbsup

no way you burnt a clutch trying to get it on a trailer.

will it go into gear now?

Should you need a clutch, let me know. I have brand new, never used Stillen clutch and new flywheel sitting in a box at my house.

You'll get opinions on BOTH sides of that issue. In the end it all boils down to what YOU feel comfortable doing. :thumbsup

yes it still goes into gear and i can park it without using the accelerator so maybe i can still run with it
hope to have license plates soon so i can drive it on the street
for the moment i just hug it a couple of times a day and give it a good night kiss in the evening:ack

:agree:

I just hate it when I screw up.

I fried my clutch and bought the Stillen...and very happy with it.

:lol:lol:lol I was afraid of the same thing. :lol:lol:lol

You boiled the clutch fluid .Bleed the fluid 1st ,before you replace the clutch.

thank you guys for your advise and compasion
and sweet of you that only one is threating me as a real dummy and the others are well understanding. I'll tell that to the beauty in the garage when i kiss her goodnight maybe it will make it easier for her to forgive me.

I will have the clutch fluid changed first. That is a very good suggestion
