Hi,

After I've listened to the exhaust compilation around 60 times, I like the sound of the Accu fab pipes the best (personal opinion only); however, I would prefer the look of the tips from something like the Ford Racing Muffler (saw that on Michael's car, as well as a couple of other GT this past weekend in Monterey/Pebble Beach, wicked looking tips!) Has anyone who has put on the Accu fab x pipes with better looking tips (rolled lip)? If so, what is the brand for the tips and please advice as to where might I buy them?

If anyone on the forum, wants to sell their Accu fab x pipes because of the drone that I've been reading about, please PM me. I figured i'll give it a try...

thx

The Heffner system might have the tips you are looking for. He is a supporting vendor so you can find him here. He also has a video clip of a dyno pull. I don't think the Heffner system was on the exhaust comp. thread.

Yes, the Heffner's system looks good. Unfortunately, the Heffner's system is not on the exhaust comp. thread....
Comparing the sound bite from Heffner's site to the Accu Fab in the exhaust compilation, I like the Accu Fab's sound better (however, this could be attributable to the recording devices.... Therefore, if anyone has listened to the sound from both the Heffner's and Accu Fab, and if you tell me that they sound the same, I'll go with the Heffner's to avoid the hassle of getting the tips and having them welded on....). Otherwise, I'm told that I can buy the exhaust tips from Borla, but I want to make sure the tips I end up with have the proper length such that after installed the tips don't stick out beyond the bumper (I've burned my legs more than once from the exposed hot exhaust tips from my prior car for standing too close to the bumper). Does anyone know the part # for the Borla tips for the Ford Racing muffler, or the measurement of the Borla tips (length and width)?

Thanks!!

Im partial to the Heffner and I have owned GTs with every exhaust available.

Is this the same Chris Kaufman, from Kaufaman racing in Downey?, if so he was a real 5.0 Mustang pioneer. I wonder where he landed after closing the shop.

Tips for Accufab

You can buy dual wall SS tips with a 3 inch inlet diameter from one of the major exhaust companies and have them welded on or use clamps. I saw them at the Hot Rod Power Tour in Rochester, MN. The exhaust side may need some reshaping on a stock muffler (slightly oval pipes), but the Accufabs may be round and the tips might just slide right on. I have the catalog at home, but can't recall the mftr. I'm out of town, but will check when I get back home and post the mftr. It might be Flowmaster...

Just checked the web site for Flowmaster, and they don't list a 3 inch inlet pipe for their tips but I know they have them as I measured the one at the Power Tour. The sales guy actually dug it out of the truck for me, and showed the order area in the catalog. I'll check my catalog when I get home. The 3 inch inlet tips looked exactly like 15364/65 units.

accufab with corsa tips

I have accufab x pipe with corsa tips and they look and sound great. I have never really noticed a drone. They are a little to the loud side and you have to idle past the law. In Florida any exhaust that intends to and is louder than stock can be ticketed.

For what it is worth, I recently had the Heffner system installed on my car. The pipes sound great, not too loud unless you are getting on it. Have not noticed drone. The quality is fantastic and the tips are the best looking of any I have seen. I wonder if there is really much differece in sound from the Accufab, since they are both just open pipes with a crossover or X pipe. It would be interesting to hear them side by side.

I had the Acufab pipe jethot coated in dull black and it looks good. I wanted to avoid the discoloration problem.

I can vouch for the Heffner system as well... incredible sounding in person!!!

Quality is second to none as well.

Just my 0.02$ :cheers

Side-by-side with ferocious exhaust.

It would be interesting to hear them side by side.

Gentlemen,

You'll get your chance to do that at the Rally in a couple weeks. :banana Here's a photo of my German side by side with two very loud pipes. No crossover is used with this system.

Chip if you are shooting with that big of a shell - you better not MISS!

Looks like a shoulder dislocation waiting to happen!

So after the rally - what was the perceived difference between the Heffner and accufab x-pipe? Which is louder? Does the Heffner have the drone issue the accufabs seem to show?

No drone with Accufab...subtle as a lamb-commands authority on throttle AOK :thumbsup
