"I am at the wheel of what the manufacturer says is the world’s fastest production car..."

Well, dat's not so. THAT car (as WE all know) is the SSC Ultimate Arrow...a U.S. built car...made in Washington State! :banana:banana:banana

...And the article is dated 7/27/08 too. Makes one wonder how "current" that scribe keeps himself! :lol

Monticello track

Now let's see............the average person (considering the importance of their job) would go to the track 4/5 times a year.....@$125,000.00 that would break down to $25,000 per visit.........for some it's just too expensive...and for some of us no matter how much money we make, would rather not dispose of it in such a way.......but...if you belong to the PDA driving school which has about 10 track events at Monticello...the total cost would be around $3,000. (not counting car expenses).....hey, what a bright idea......of course..I wont get to rub elbows with Jeff Gordon, or Jerry...but hey, they will have to suffer until they meet me...lol

But Gino you won't be able to use the swimming pool and tennis courts in-between laps.

They have two tracks and the bigger track with the mile straight is supposedly reserved for members only.

To a lesser degree its the same type of deal that New Jersey Motorsports is trying to do in Millville, NJ. Yes the fees are substantially less, $ 7,000 initiation, $ 2,500 annual dues, and $ 150 black top fee each day you use the track, and you are restricted to 30 days.

Yet you can go to their own track day for $ 250 per day.

I guess there truly is a sucker born every minute.

Too much...

Wow - the buy-in is a bit steep. I'm a member at VIR and it was nothing like that. There are several similar projects underway - but I think one of the grandest bit the dust. Victory Lane, (Phil Hill) a couple of hours East of Savannah, GA. Looked good on paper - but a bit pricey. Not sure of their status at the moment - most news stopped at the end of last year.

Another in the works is High Rock Raceway - an hour or so North of Charlotte. http://racehighrock.com/home.aspx - I think they are on a better footing but not quite so grand and therefore more affordable. The more the merrier...

Ron,

The PDA has 2 dates ( I believe Oct and NOv ) for the Monticello racetrack. Some of us are deciding now which to make...let me know what would be best for you......Check out the PDA web site. I will be running my mustang race car at this event.....Our group is about 8/10 guys...and we have a lot of fun..we would welcome someone like you with so much track experience....

Best,

Gino
