Last weekend my friend and I used the T&A drop kit to lower my car about one inch in the front and 3/4 in the back. However this came at a price, like anything else since this was my first time working on the suspension of the gal(not that this should be an excuse) and the fact that my brain doesnt always work properly(brain fart) we did a number on the coil spring trying to compress it. basically I f---ed it up pretty bad. my question is can I just buy the coil spring or do I have to buy the whole assembly, shock and spring? any help would be great, thanks.

here are some pics

Can you post a picture of the front shock assembly with the lowering perches installed? Was there less thread showing on the bottom of the spring perches in the front than in the rear? I'm not an engineer and this didn't make sense to me.

Also, do you remember the measurements from the bottom of the locking collar to the edge of the bottom thread for the front and rear. I beleive for me, 1 inch drop was 9.9mm and .75 inch drop in rear was 13mm?

'Gotta hand you guys who lower your GT's the "Brass Big Ones" award.

Around HERE lowering a GT would turn it into a road grader. (Scratching up a spring during install would be NOTHING compared to what would surely follow.):ack

The mod sure enough does LOOK GREAT though!

yes there was. 10mm from the bottom of the collor to the bottom of the lock ring for the front and 20mm for the back.

Empty look at some of my other rides the gt sits higher than all my other cars.
and I noticed no difference in the ride and still clears all speed bumps no proplem,

Your area must have REASONABLE height speed bumps. We have some the size of buildings ... and road surfaces to match in many places. I kid you not.:frown

(There are roads around here with sudden "dips" in the pavement deep enough to hide a VW. Good luck navigating a GT over THOSE w/o scraping something ...even KNOWING they're there and approaching 'em at a severe angle. And God help anyone who's unaware of what's ahead!:willy)

Thanks, I would suggest wrapping the bottom threads with 'Gorilla' black tape. It is thicker than duck tape, it's black, it sticks extremely well, and will keep those threads from being damaged by stones. You'd hate to nick a thread and not be able to make any adjustments. Good job!:thumbsup She looks great!

My stock ride height Z06 scrapes a lot more places than my lowered GT.

yes I agree, I did that for the back but there was not enough thread exposed in the front to put tape on it, so we just left it, I might go back and put some silicon in there to protect the threads, but I honestly dont think I will be making any adjustment to it any more. thanks for the heads up though.:cheers

Looks sharp, man! I'd give Wayne at Hamon Ford a call about the spring pricing.

Give Alex at T&A a call he may have some springs. BTY the shop I hired to lower my GT hacked my shocks worse! The springs have minor dings and they also ripped a shock boot. Luckily Alex had another one. Fearing more damage I bought my own Branick spring compressor to finish the job.

:thumbsup for DIY

Just curious, how did you arrive at your values of 10 and 20mm? My actual values were 9.9mm front and 16.3mm rear which I calculated by plugging the numbers into an Excel spreadsheet for x and y variables, given the numbers in the instructions provided by T&A.

Get a hold of Torrie at Fast Part Networks (sponsor here) via e-mail. That is where I ordered my set of springs from when I made up my set of lwoered shocks....

He can order just one if you need it.:thumbsup

BTW - love the Mach 1. After 1 yr. just picked mine up from the body shop. Now comes the restomod fun. Just ripped the heart out last weekend for a stroker upgrade. Looking to "March" the front of the engine with a reverse waterpump. I'm keeping the shaker and was able to find a 69 Ford Racing Aluminum Manifold:thumbsup which will give me the best air intake for the new heads....

I got te values from shadowman, we measured the car before installation and after, to make sure. 10mm was the measurment on the front and 20mm was on the back, the front came down 1 inch, and the back 3/4 inch. according to t&a to drop the car 1 inch the measurement should be 11.2mm for the front, I forget the rear measurment.

Adjusting the height is far from an exact science. To get what you really want, you may have to adjust them more than once. The rears are easy, but on the fronts you may have to relieve some spring pressure, PITA

yes i learned early on if you want something done right, do it yourself, and if you screw up its ok at least you did it yourself, I feel much better if I cause the damage than someone else, besides I can usually stop and assess the situation as to not cause more damage, I cant be sure if someone else would do the same.:cheers

restomods are great although I dont consider mine a real restomod, almost all of the mods on my car are era correct for the exception of the ignition sys.
and there is no way you can tell from the earlier pic but the car is a boss 302:thumbsup and if you like wild intakes here is the pic of the bud moore miniplenum thats on the car. I have a 70 clone which we plan to transplant a 03 cobra drivetrain into. the whole 9 yards, engine, tranny, and rear end, including the IRS, that should be a fun car, love to see some pics of your car in progress, I love mustangs.:thumbsup

That look awsome, I would love to get that system, but I just ordered the whipple and will be installing it this weekend if it gets here on time, so Im over my budget for this car for now, and I still need the shifter and the transcooler and headers before I consider the penske set up, btw how do you like it.
