If we are thinking Texas, why not just make it Mexico.:banana
Fast cars and spicy food, WooHoo.

If we are thinking about the same time of year (August) then FL and TX are both out. Colorado would be great in August or so I assume.

According to the National Weather Service, the wet season in FL extends through September. No one wants a rained out Rally, so October/November is the time to do it, or do it somewhere else.

Florida is easy for me, but going somewhere ELSE is nice too.

I've been to Texas and can't say I'm anxious to go back, I'd just rather go somewhere more exciting where I don't have to wear cowboy boots :ack

Vegas is a great choice for Rally IV.

Vegas is a great choice for Rally IV.

I'm with you on that. Vegas or Scottsdale. I know a rocking track owned by a fellow FGT owner in Scottsdale, and they have kick ass roads and hotels.

:winkOkay, we could put on quite the show in Dubai and I'm sure parking wouldn't be a problem within the next year!

I'm totally willing to host something at our house for any stop-over drivers to wherever... maybe Atlanta has some good options. Kansas might have some fun stuff to do, and a ride through the Ozarks is beautiful a month or so later than usual.

Honestly, I'm guessing- and it's just a guess- that we could get some decent press coverage if a bunch of GTs ended up in Bricktown here (think SanAntonio Riverwalk on a slightly smaller scale) and we have a couple in's with the PD here (just a thought, but serious enough to consider it as a stop-over for all our 12 step people :cheers).

We have a pool, a stocked bar... that would all be free, the boat ride downtown and parking would be in the $11 range total, but I'm not sure about detailing before a 200+ mile ride to Dallas or Austin. And it isn't shabby... we could hook you guys up with the Marriott, I'm sure, as well.

Where is bricktown???

ETA: who's not ever up for Vegas???? Scottsdale is too hit and miss for several days at a time (unless you are with friends, and that is what it is all about, right?)

DAVE: I talked with several women this week who don't drive the cars out of sheer fear of what it can do. I took a 15 minute lesson with Mark and got more out of it that I could've driving it myself... do you think we could get more women involved somehow with their own activity? Or do you think this is strictly a man's activity that women are "along for the ride" for? If we could arrange a police escort or "class" for the ladies I think that would be awesome... I don't know all the technical stuff, but I do know I want to drive this darn machine and not be fearful of it....

ETA: all I seemed to hear from the ladies was "i'm scared of it", and while I am too, I have a severe desire to drive the dang thing... a "buddy group" would be immensely helpful!!!

Bricktown is downtown OKC. We have riverboats to ride, it is the "crosstown of America" where I-40 and I-35 cross. There are restaurants, AAA baseball (for the TX Rangers), fairly decent driving, the Skirvin downtown and Marriott at NWExpressway, with restaurants, entertainment, the Bass Pro Shop, the biggest indoor racing facility, and a great few bars within a few minutes...

Mind you, this probably NOT our final stop, but consderable as a half-way or so point... and like I said, we have a pool, more than a couple in's with the PD and the local bars, a stocked bar at home and a few luxury cars to look at. What else matters for a few hours?

How difficult would Canada be? Quebec City is a great spot in the summer.

Only FYI, not sure how up-to-date it is, but WWW.BRICKTOWNOKC.ORG has a couple links...

ETA: Bricktown parking is about $5 if it isn't free!!! A little different than you might be used to.

ETA2: We have a spot to park vehicles ( more than the usual $5 I'm sure- at Chelino's with riverside dining) outside the city's first river-view restaurant, next to the Bricktown police station, that can accomodate more than a few vehicles with the right request... not sure what that might be outside of time. We may have a little influence on what we'd like to have if we know in advance... if only for a few "stop-overs". :)

To be fair, let's remember the first Rally was in Detroit. That's 2300 miles from Orange County. Detroit is 600 miles from NYC. The West Coasters had the first turn to be hosed, so it's 1-1. If we went to Southern Florida we'd be sending them 2800 miles again...

Thanks for sticking up DBK.. and that was a trip with a 6 month old... only one there too... And it was great to sea Brians son at this event..

I'm obviously up for where ever... Logistically, TX would be good... FLA... We'd fly in and rent.... East coast.... fly in and rent... And only because of little timmy.... Texas would be a nice 1st road trip for him... but, I'm only one man... I do think that alternate events would be great though..

meaning, after all is set up, lets find out who's renting and maybe set up a golf day for those guys why the ones with there beauties are on a tour (not a track)

Also, a 4 day event has seemed to be perfect and if the location doesn't have too much to offer in regards to CAR STUFF, then lets all have a best ball tourney... we don't get to pick the teams though... drawn out of a hat so we can circulate ourselves and get to know everyone better..

Just a thought.:bs

If its a best ball tourney ... everyone swings rental clubs. :thumbsup How about a go-cart show down? Have an annual trophy .... rally go cart champ.... yeah! that would work .. even for the guys that don't want to run their GT can play ...

or do something stupid funny ..... tricycle races. saw that once and laughed my a$$ off for days! Would be some funny stuff to give each other cr#p about....

My vote is for some car stuff, some funny stuff and some owners group stuff like the Q&A. Help the GT builders still in Ford go back to them with some credible facts, concerns, and "pulse" on this prized group of Ford owners.

Little Timmy is awesome!!! By then, I bet he and our Landon (4 next month, and a real care-taker) could be "loud car" (as Landon says) friends... maybe we could get a nanny to take along and share, or even my mom and stepdad... they are completely awesome with little guys and I wouldn't hesitate for a split second to recommend them. I know you don't know them, but they are why I don't have a nanny, they are truly awesome, down-to-earth people... something to think about, especially if we end up anywhere near here. (PM me for details if you are interested in shipping your car and/or sharing a sitter). (This is my mom, totally normal!!) In fact, send your wife out for a day or two to meet her, I have not problem with that.

Love your quote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems like Canada might be harder to access... a lot of people might be truckin' it... fine with us, but any drivers for that destination?

OMG, we live on a course and I don't even have clubs... I've gotta know this stuff so I can slip in a lesson!!!

Ok. I change my vote....

Vegas!

Vegas speedway, big oval, interior road courses, autocross course outside of the big oval, 1/4 mile drag strip, Carroll Shelby's HQ right on the speedway grounds. I'm sure Jay Leno would come to this one! Great shows, nightlife, shopping and higher octain fule for those that want it. There are also great places for a road cruise outside of Vegas.....

Vegas, Baby!!!

Ummm, one question... is anyone actually racing an oval track? That is one great place for a show of cars and a great time, but do we have grand prix or oval-track racers or mainly performance-for-fun drivers who don't need gear? I'm sure everyone loves a drink and a good drive, but what kind of race is everone looking for?

And I'm gonna second this thought DBK, can we think of a women's driving event?

Agree 100 percent- Las Vegas!!

Anyone who wants to see the Billy Bob's "honky tonk"" place that we visited at the 8th Viper Invitational, click here http://forums.viperclub.org/showthread.php?t=566176

While I don't think VOI Texas was as good as the VOI in Florida or the two VOIs in Vegas, the indoor bull riding thing was kinda cool

Hey, I just noticed that I got demoted to pit crew from GT owner- what gives?

They won't let you use the whole oval anyway. They throw in a few turns into the inside of the track about half way around. We used the track during 2 of our Viper Owner Invitational's. By the way... we had awards for the fastest track times of both men and women.

Vegas sounds fine, Texas would be great too. Eventually Atlanta (Kirby and Don offered to set up). I am now scouting St. Louis and Chicago for possible venues (especially along old Route 66) for future events. Newton, Iowa has a new track they would love to have us at. I'd love Florida eventually, too. What about upstate New York? Joey, get your arss in gear.
