Went to the dealership today to order a new windshield. Have a few stone chips from the rally and its time to change it out. The windshield is only about 640.00 so that did not shock me. But the following NPA Remarks got me thinking.

"part # 5G7Z6303100AA

added fuba antenna module to improve radio reception issue. change includes modifications to head unit pigtail and the antenna coax cable for power circuit to module, antenna has been relocated as well. Per engineering direction, interchangeabilty is not effected between the older and newer part.

However, the interchangeability is being investigated, the old level glass will not be replaced by this new level until interchangeability can be confirmed...

Per engineering direction the older windshield application (4G7Z6303100-AA) is replaceable by the new (more) windshield (5G7Z-6303100-AA) if and only if you order the new amplifier (5G7z-18812-AA), the new cable assembly (4G7Z-18812-AB) and the two attaching amplifier bolts (4G7Z-16163) "

Has anyone else heard this?

I was looking at doing something stupid and stocking a few windshields ... I know Matt we talked about it ... but... I was just thinking. :wink

That's a lot of work when a Windshield skin will save you. I've heard a few loud rock pings against my windshield and no damage. I've had mine on for 10 months. FL Chris is another guy who had one installed. You can check with him to get his feed back as well. It would be much easier to change the film than a windshield...:biggrin
I wanted to keep my car all original so I've tried to protect the windshield.

Yes, I agree ... i just got a chip from a fellow Gt owner on the way to the rally from scottsdale before I could get the film on.

Now I have to replace the windshield and THEN put the film on.

Anyone check with NOVUS about having the chips filled in?

Once you have the new windshield in place the film may keep you from having to stock up on replacement windshields...

knowing my luck I would have a brick tossed out the bed of a truck.

so one spare should be wonderful.
