Check w/ Chip Beck, he looked for years then went with a Shelby CSX series in aluminun

Actually Chips is a Kirkham. They make the bodies for Shelby in Poland at an ex Mig manufacturing plant. The main difference is you can get alot of nice parts with the Kirkham vs the CSX for alot less.

Best is not always the same as most valuable. The CSX aluminum Shelby's are the most valuable and typically upper tier quality cars. The Kirkhams are often an equal quality car but the absence of the Shelby CSX mumber reduces their value. Generally the most expensive Kirkhams approach $120,000, which is the starting price of the least expensive Shelby Aluminum CSX cars which are generally worth $140,000+. If you were buying a used Cobra (check out Cobra Country), and didn't want to spend more than $120,000, chances are you could find a better car (although probably not a better investment) in a Kirkham than a Shelby CSX Alum car. Fiberglass replicas start around 20,000 and generally top out in the 60,000's except for the Shelby CSX fiberglass cars which will reach or exceed 100,000. IMO the best fiberglass cars are made by Shelby, Superformance and ERA.

Reread Kirby's post... he has said it all and correctly.

Best always depends on usage. I agree with Kirby on several points. An excellent driver glass car for a good price would likely be a superformance. A metal car to enjoy (drive) would be a kirkham. Something to appreciate in value which often means less time on the road would be a shelby .... just for that little plate that says it is. Although was there not a post here a while ago saying that kirkhams are now in the registry?

I think a driver cobra (superformance) would be cool to have just for the sensation of it. But then again, I am not really one that buys cars just to let someone else who later buys them from me to enjoy them. Although I have been known to buy and flip a few from time to time. But thats business (making money) not enjoying cars.... unless your like Pockets and just like to look at them. :biggrin
