White Jet Hot headers?

I was thinking of re-coating my headers white. Yes, Mr. Naysayer is considering taking the bumper off, and if I do I will have to cut the tips off and re-build a new set closer to the bumper, so I will have to re-Jet-Hot the whole exhaust again. I have the FRPP rear exit headers. I currently have the silver and it blends in with all the other shiny stuff in the engine bay. I love the look of the "bundle of snakes", and I would like to "see" them when I look at the engine. I figure white would accomplish two things, make them easier to see and add that "vintage" F1 bundle look. Jet-hot says the white is hard to keep clean. Anyone have any other ideas here? Thanks.

Jet-Hot White

I had the headers and side pipes of my Cobra replica coated white. Jet-Hot actually REFUSED to do them in white - said the white coating was not "robust" enough. Had to send them to Airborne Coatings to get them done in white. They also cautioned that white was difficult tp keep clean, and that it was not as durable as the silver coatings.

Being the stubborn guy that I am, I ignored their advice, and had them do them in white.

I really liked the white for my application, and I think it would look good for yours, too. I did find that the white coating turned yellow the first time I got caught in the rain. I was able to get it back to white by scrubbing with Simple Green and a light Scotch-Brite pad. After ten years on the raod, I have resorted to touching them up every other year or so with white VHT paint (probably easier to do on my Cobra than on your GT).

Good luck!

Jeff

CJ, I love those white pipes on the Cobra... that looks awesome. Yea, I'd like to see 'em on somebody's GT too. I say go for it and post up some pics.
