Wanted - Someone who can color match our wheels (Silver). Wheels are not damaged. These are the standard 6 Spoke standard Aluminum Alloys. Thx, Bob

I have been asking that question for years with no real response for optional wheels....just need a paint code

Refinished wheels, will look like refinished wheels. If you want GT OEM look, you need to find some good originals. I believe the process used by BBS is more complex than just painting. Ford shows GT wheels as back ordered, so maybe there is a chance they could be purchased new from Ford.

The wheel paint was a special recipe with just the right amount of magic floobie dust. Noone in 20 years has successfully matched it. The color comes close but the reflectance is different. Some say paint both wheels on the same side since you can't visually compare the other side. I'd repaint all 4

More often than not backorderd is friendlyspeak for discontinued.

I remember for YEARS X2 builders had set(s) of the non option wheels on ebay for $1800. I said to myself, I really need to get these some day....... then they were gone.

Is the finish on the non option wheels, the same as the optional BBS? The optional wheel is the one that has never been EXACTLY duplicated.

The BBS wheel paint is called 'Silver DSK', code number 09.04.061S. It's sourced from Germany

The GT wheels are made and painted in Japan at BBS there. Again, no one has ever successfully matched the paint. It is a three step process. The paint on the standard wheels and the optional wheels is the same.

I had them powdercoated, because as stated, I could not colour match. Looks like they were on the car when I got caught in a freak snow storm.. My picture for this website shows it.. I really miss that car. ( sold it with 80k miles) Driving a factory ordered 2025 C8 Z06 and at 18,000 kilometres on the speedo, I have 19 pages of work orders so far and going in next Monday for 23 to 30 hrs work Tranny this time and all 4 brake rotors. Motor has been out to reseal a TSB thing.. Never ever had this bullshit problems with Ford.. Looking forward to the Whipple upgrade and full Borla exhaust ( parts ordered and paid for) 2024 Raptor R. Just need to put a few more miles on it. What a Friggin nice truck....

BBS sent me a half pint can of optional wheel paint, like 18+ years ago. Was trying to blend a chip on a takeoff wheel I had purchased.
The color was close, but not a perfect match, as I was told the paint on the wheels was a multi step process.

A few years ago I had a local guy fix a couple chips on one of my BBS optioned wheel. He has a business to fix wheel chips, dealers use him. He has a van with a small spray both inside. He matched the OEM color perfectly. He uses PPG two part paint. So the color can be matched by those that are good at matching paint.
Good body shops do it all the time on most auto repairs. Seldom does the out of the can spec color match the actual OEM color. The same OEM color code is not exact and can have many variations from the factory, requiring the applicator to match the color.
Just need to find the right person that also does wheel repair.
You might try a body shop that you know does a good job at matching color. It might cost a lot for their time to do it. But, I suspect you can find one. It's really no different than body repair.

Hopefully, no one throws me off the forum for this.
When I bought my car, the inside of a couple wheels were somewhat stained from brake dust in a few spots. The OEM paint surface was cosmetically damaged. I tried Krylon rattle can silver, since, if it happened to not match, it is easy to remove without damaging the OEM paint. The Krylon matched near perfect. I simply fogged the paint out when applying, and it was near not noticeable. If the wheel is off and you look at it, you would not see where I painted it, until I very closely pointed it out.
I cleaned the OEM surface and did NOT scuff. I appled the Krylon over the OEM shinny surface. I wanted to go back to OEM if the Krylon failed. Over many years, the Krylon still is in great shape.

Ed, thanks for that.
