State of Confusion
O.K. I guess this a stupid question but, What is Autotrader?
There are 194 GTs for sale. Are these dealer sales, private or what ?

The link below is what I found.:bored

Autotrader is a source for buying cars. They have been around a very long time.
Some of those listings are Mustangs, and others are just incorrect ads.
Looks like the prices are pretty stable right now.

Autotrader listings are not up to date. When I was looking for a car, I called many of the dealers listing GTs on Autotraders. About 25% of those a called said they have already sold the car. I ended up buying a GT from one of the dealers listing in Autotraders. More than a month later, the car I bought was still listed there!

Only about 96 are true "New" cars; ie less than 50 miles, from an actual Ford Dealer and preferably a 2006

About half are "fake new" (150-1500 miles on clock), used or 2nd new owner cars ie, you wont get a full warranty (start dates is day the original Ford dealer sold to first owner or to an exotic car store) or a 2005 that has sat 12-16 months on multiple floors (ie, dead battery, scuffs, valence/difuser scrapes, dings, or some fried electrics).

The pristine 2005 thats been roped for such a long time does not exist.

As a side note: plenty of blacks, tungsten, heritage based on sample; reds, whitel, blues are rarer based on whats left. Yellow like 4 on planet.

As an aside Ebay as only 13 New cars listed this is the lowest I have ever seen, way doen from high of 45 in summer.

As a last aside, if you bought your GT after July 14 you do get the 5yr Warranty v. 3yr. (verified with Hotline, Ford Customer service, and Ford HQ - you get no documentation but the VIN are coded and dealer warranty guides will be updated for 2007) I sat on the fence till 7/20. Best 6 days of decisionmaking ever.

It's the online version of the automotive classified magazine. The listings are a mixture of new and used as noted in each ad.

From experience I can tell you that the ads are sometimes misleading and even out of date. The listed price is often not the real price when you call and the car may even have already been sold. I bought a car earlier this week and it's still listed on Autotrader.com by the dealer. They don't give much priority to their online ads. I called a new car dealer about a GT they had listed at $154035 only to be told that the real price was MSRP, $166195. I complained to the manager and was told that somehow their invoice price had been listed and they would not honor the price. They claim they don't physically list their cars themselves, it's some automated process they don't control. It's a good source to start looking but CAVEAT EMPTOR!

AutoTrader Ads Are Often Bogus

Most Autotrader ads placed by dealers are bogus, even if they start out as genuine. The car sells (assuming they actually had one) but since they placed a "run it till you sell it" ad, they let the ad run indefinitely as a form of free advertising. Typical dealer crap. They will usually offer to find a car for you though ..... what BS.

Kayvan, the long warranty was not supposed to apply to the GT. I don't doubt what you were told, but there are previous posts about this saying the GT is not on the list for this. Please search the old posts.

I had a dealer offer me $120k for mine today. I'm gonna have to turn that down! lol

I said "That sounds great! And I'll give you $140k for your Ferrari! Do we have a deal???"

Ha ha! Touche'!!
I know I shouldn't, but I get really ticked when I get low-balled by a dealer. I take it like a slap in the face, and I want to actually slap them back!:lol

I KNOW!!! I just had a long conversation about that! There are only a few of them out there for sale right now, and NONE of them are selling for under $145k! Most are a lot more! You've got to be out of your mind to think I'm gonna let you make $30k on my trade! What kind of shit is that???

I read those; did they mean buying an extended warranty?

I silently asked Customer Service to look up my VIN and they said its 5yr. However, they noted the sell date of 7/20 was the guiding factor -- even though my sales invoice says 7/22 -- he must have input the sale the night before.

A supervisor got on when I asked for a letter or documentation; he said the VIN is coded and any Ford dealer can look it up.

The press release says all Ford motor vehicles are upgraded.

Not sure if others checked and had pre 7/14 sale dates or if the policy just changed...given warranty claim counts?

I dont doubt previous posts either; if anyone who purchased after July has been told they are 3yr warranty then thats news.

Kayvan,

I think I know the answer to my question, but if you are correct, I wonder if the upgrade would apply to a new 2005 that I bought in August of 2006, thus past the 7/22 deadline you mention? (And yes it was ropped off and in pristine condition when I bought it, lol.) I really doubt it, but I will give them a call tomorrow.
