Not to be a spoil sport but why all the post about non-GT autos. Is the interest and banter at GTs dying since the end of production? Do we need an area called "other autos of interest by GT aficianados". IMHO.

Other things are interesting, in addition to GT's. And, if you don't like the subject discussed, you don't have to tune in.

The point.

My intentions were not to raise anyones hackles. The point was to suggest if there was this much interest in other models it might be considered a topic worthy of its own "sub" forum, just like "Tech" and "Racing".

A new section opened last week titled "Dodge Viper". Alot of owners here have Vipers...and there was much discussion on this section about Vipers. Nothing wrong with having a thread here and there however about a Porche, F Car...or whatever. I don't think it is out of control by any means...but a good change of pace now and again. My opinion only of course.

I Agree, We are mostly all Enthusiasts of alot of different cars.

It is really amazing the "other" cars that GT owners have. When I was heavy into F Cars...the F Car guys stuck to party lines for the most part. When I was into Lambos...same thing...although Lambo guys tended to have a more varied collection or interest than the F Car guys. But GT owners have them all...and more importantly...enjoy them all. Tremendous knowledge on this site.

Other Cars

I can't speak for the others, but for me...I have posted questions on two other cars because this is the most knowledgeable group that I know to get information from. Many of the people on this forum have multiple cars and usually several of the brand a person might be interested in. As an example, I was considering a Noble for a track day car and Manny and Chris convinced me to buy a Lotus instead. I have complete confidence in the opinions of the core group on this forum.

Nothing will ever come close to the GT in my mind, but that does not mean that other cars cannot be enjoyed as well.

Don:thumbsup

I just purchased a 72' Pantera with 11,000 original miles. I poked around to talk the car on a few other forums and they arn't my cup of tea. Too clickish and hostile.
Maybe Dave could open another Forum topic for "Other Cars"?

Problem with a separate forum is it won't get as much exposure. This is the first I've heard of the Viper section here. There is a GT section on Viper Alley but it doesn't get much action. Usually if you want exposure for a question you have to cross link it to one of the more visited areas. I'd be afraid the same will hold true here.

That is 100% true. The exposure comes from the main topic area. It takes along time to build a "base" in a section like Vipers, or other cars. I ran into this many times as a Mod on F CHAT. When we first broke the Lambo and Other Cars sections out..no one went there. After 2 years however, they were 2 of the heavy hitters on the site, surpassing many of the F car sections.

I hate every other car except the GT.

I have been know to post about other retro-Heritage models to come in 2010 though (Challenger, etc)

I agree with others. The Ford GT is by far my favorite car...but it won't be the last car I buy and it doesn't change the fact that I like other cars. What seems to set this forum apart from others is the fact that most here are "true" car enthusiasts and are willing to share their experiences. I have received great info regarding ferraris and the BMW Z8. I find this forum to be more objective than most.

Follow up.

Now that the topic has had some review and input, enlighting input I might add, I offer this observation. On Sunday when I looked at the main site several of the leading topics were about other vehicles which I could have cared less about. Since we strive to put GT tech and racing issues in sub categories I naturally felt that non GT discusssions deserved no more. I only want whats best for this community and agree with the many post about having info on multiple topics out in front then letting them filter down based on viewers interest. I truly hope the enthusiasm for the GT remains at it's past fevered pitch and will do what I can to be a valued contributor.

The M5Board has a thread section for "Competitors to the M5" which remains active and interesting.
