Wanted to share these pics from my 2005 hennessey gt1000 as I recently replaced the Bridgestone 345-35-19 with the toyo r888r’s 345-30-19. It hurt the looks somewhat, but I am super happy with the traction increase as it is 100% better in 2nd-3rd gear. They are shorter and probably throw off the Speedo a lot. It increased the gap around the rear fender Just wanted to share the looks and traction results with anyone think of using these tires.

Great info!!

Samson, is your suspension stock?

Good to hear about the traction.

thanks

Doug

I ran the same Toyo tires on my ‘05 at the Utah Rally last season. Grip and handling were great. The diameter change throws off both the speedo and ABS sensors. You will see your ABS light come on at times.

It has the Penske racing shocks. Not sure the settings, would love to learn more on setting them up

I wouldn’t think the ABS would be affected by the tire diameter. I’m not exactly sure how the ABS works on the GT but the sensors usually just report wheel speed. If the light comes on it could be telling you there is some wheel lock up or possibly something else is wrong. You might want to dig deeper.

It will pick up the variance in rotation between actual and the preset baseline. If there is enough difference it could turn on the light.

“If ABS finds it's lacking data, or a hydraulic pump or valve isn't responding, it illuminates the ABS warning light on the dash. ABS relies on a properly operating conventional brake system. ”

Preset baseline? I’m not sure about that. If there is a Ford Engineer on this forum, I would like to hear their explanation.

ABS reads rotational speeds on the wheels and reacts to lock up and wheel speed variations. The actual speed of the wheels doesn’t make a difference. A smaller diameter means higher wheel speeds but in relation to the other smaller tires shouldn’t make a difference.

These wheel speeds also are used for stability control. Maybe smaller rear diameter and normal front diameter may fool the DSC... thus causing the light to come on? Maybe it’s not an ABS issue? ... a DSC issue instead?

Example:

I raced late model Mini Coopers for a number of years. We changed the wheels from 17’s to 15’s, decreasing the diameter to lower the final drive ratio. It never affected the ABS however, we turned off the DSC.

DSC on a GT? Please explain.

Too bad the Toyos are so limited in sizes. If they only matched the Bridgestone sizes, we would have another great option.

You know.... you’re right. The GT doesn’t have DSC. I was thinking of ABS systems in general and not the GT in particular. I stand corrected! Thanks.

I just saw the new Camaro ZL1 1LE (frickin gorgeous) with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R summer-only tires (305/30ZR19(98Y) & 325/30ZR19(101Y)) and was curious about their suitability (obviously a different wheel pkg would be necessary).

They sure STUFF the Camaro wheel wells!

I wish someone would make a modern tire in our size or the Bridgestone size.

Don’t we all. I’ve contacted Michelin in the past about making rear tire fitments for our cars and they repeatedly state they have no plans on making those sizes[emoji35]

Probably a tough sell considering the market size.

Anyone know where I can track down some Bridgestones? All the sites I’m looking
at list them as special order-or is that the norm? Are the RE050A still the model of choice?

Thanks!
I swear I was just there the other day and nothing...just needed another set of eyes I guess?
Bought em

Can you let us know what production dates they have when you get them?

Well I do know the fronts have a 2014 production date.
They had them discounted as such and I went for it.
I can let you what the rears have. Should I be concerned?
