We had a vintage car rally run into town today so I took my son down to look at all the ancient iron. Truly some great cars ... looks like huge fun!

Anyway, Tommy had his COE and trailer out there which is weird since I was looking at their website last night. :willy:willy:willy I know Stormcat has one but how many others here have a Tommy's trailer with top cover? Also the length of trailer. I'm thinking about 22 or 24 feet.

Any advice is mucho appreciated. Towing it with a MB GL 320 CDI (chipped).

20 feet is plenty, anything longer only adds weight. Have them install e-track, and a winch is a wonderful thing to have. Keeps you from slipping the clutch as you slowly ease up the ramp.

Well ... I thought that but the weight difference is less than 200 lbs and I was thinking about having a gangbox and tire rack area up in the nose for when I go to the track. I hear you on the winch but am still out on that one. E-track is a must!!

thanks for the input.

+1 on the winch.. I winch mine on and off..
The GT is wide and only fits with about an 1 1/2 : at the rear tires to spare. I use a laser guide to get mine centered up.

I had my topper built wider and lower that the normal set up. The sides are shorter and fit tighter.. I know a few guys here that have the flatbed trailer with the nose piece only. If you fore go the topper get the nose piece for sure. Mine nose piece took a major hit from a tire carcass.. the GT would have suffered some damage if the nose piece was not there..:ack

I like mine with no E track.. I get a nice low pull on the wheel straps. I got all of the winch straps & tire straps etc.. with the trailer..I've towed my GT over 10 000 miles with no issues..

I have the exact trailer that Stormcat has, except for the storage belly pan. These units are very well made and the folks at Tommy's Trailers are great to work with!!!

I've purchased the 22ft and then custom built a tool box and shield out of diamond plate. It looks and works fantastic. My car is lowered and I run the 19 & 20 PSII's so the car sits low. I purchased a lower profile tire for the trailer mounted to some alum. wheels (dumped the steel) so the door will clear the tires when exiting. Request the optional 7' ramps and then jack the trailer nose wheel a few inches, the lowered car will then go up with out any issues.:thumbsup Good Luck.

Steve, good idea on the lower profile trailer tires.. My door clears now but it probably won't if I lower the car.. What make and size tire are you running on the trailer? + 1 on the 7 ft ramps.. I use some small blocks to overcome the initial ramp climb. That way I don't need to disconnect the trailer from the vehicle..

The trailer is in idaho and I'm still in So Cal until tues. I'll check the tire size and make then post it.

I don't disconnect the trailer when I crank up the nose a few inches, the crank is pretty stout on these trailers and will raise up the rear a few inches without any problems.

tommy trailer

dpgt, i had an open trailer (22ft, front shield, winch) which was the best towing an easy access trailers i have had. Decided i wanted an enclosed trailer so i sold the one i had and bought another 22ft from tommy. Same set up , winch-absoulte must, side door to get into the car. Tight squeeze if you were going to drive it up. Get the e-tracks makes ty downs so much easier.People at tommy"s are great to work with plus if you need maintenance on the trailer and are in the area they pretty much do it for free.
