I wonder if it's made with the same cheap, rust-prone steel as the junk cars they export to Eastern European countries.

A huge competitive issue. The time-to-market on virtual copy/clones is about 12 months and there is no protection of intellectual property.

'Out Innovating' China is a two part proposition: 1) use of unique processes & trade secrets in lieu of patents, and 2) a rapid cadence of new products. An expensive but necessary proposition.

China as an economic player is not an easy thing. I am 100% against I.P. rip-off but we can all make individual decisions to minimize the cause-and-effect on the US economy. There is hardly anything here in the US that is not Chinese made anymore.

Here is another article that I read that is related IMO. Care to guess what the product is?

"According to China Daily, citing the report, each unit sold in the U.S. for about $600 adds between $229 and $275 to the U.S.-China trade deficit per unit sold."

Knowing you, it's gotta be an Apple product! :lol

Edit: Yeeeeeeeeeeup!

Apple is just one of 25 major companies that Foxconn makes products for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn (scroll down)

And there is probably more people that speak English in china than in the United States.

50% of all the electronic components in the world come from Foxconn...staggering. I think they are in turn owned by another company.
