1966 GT40, chassis P/1067, 'found' in a garage in Thousand Oaks, CA under a pile of junk. Craziness.

Talk about a diamond in the rough ! I hope they get a good company to do the restoration , it would be a shame to over restore it .

I would love to have a find like this!!!

cool. just plain awesome. some fortunate folks there.

You gotta be kidding me???!!!

That nearly made my older son cry...

So how long has this one been "underground"?

That's crazy! How cool is that. Hope they restore her back to her original glory.

In Ronnie Spain's "GT40 - An Individual History and Race Record," I quote -

"...Finally it was sold to Dennis Murdoch in Thousand Oaks, California, who still owns the car which is currently mid-way through a complete restoration. In the early stages of the restoration, rock singer Rod Stewart visited the Murdoch household with a view to purchasing the car, but no sale resulted. 1067 is unique in being the only Mark I sold new with a Mark II tail, which still wears it all these years later."

From the garage views, it would appear that Murdoch's restoration got about as far as taking it apart - and no further.

I hate to even ask but what would that car bring at auction once fully restored

that is so cool....

i would like to know the whole story as this is what car guys dream about

Did someone just see this sticking out of that pile of garbage and then go to the door and ask the unaware peolpe inside if they wanted to sell the junk car for a couple of hundred bucks

Unbelievable

Article said 'it was very expensive', so I think the owner knew what he had.

Sarchasm. The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

I guess incredible finds are still out there, just gotta keep looking.
