I have to remove a taillight on a friends GT.
The way I have done this before is to lube up the threads and very carefully unscrew the speed nuts.
But this is not the optimal way to go. Yes, I know the lights are a "one" use only.
Has anyone figured out a way to reuse them, It seems like such a waste.:frown Plus, who knows about avail in the future?

I was thinking of cutting off the mounting studs (I have an old taillight to experiment with) drilling the light & putting in Rivnuts, this way the light could be removed and installed without future issues and be stronger than it was originally.
Or possibly thin threaded hollow rod reverse tap the inside to screw on the mounting studs, and then use a nut.
Has anyone tried another method ?
Any ideas?
Thanks Mike
