Sunday drive

TEXAS GT

2006 Twin Turbo
Mark IV Lifetime
Le Mans 2010 Supporter
Today was the first nice day I've had the chance to pull out both cars and take a few photos of them together and afterwards I asked my wife if she wanted to go for a drive. To my surprise, she asked which one she got to drive!

We made quite a stir around town as she drove the yellow and I was in the red (I put her in the "mild" one while I took the Whipple monster).

It was also the first time I have been able to see the car in motion from a perspective other than the drivers seat. I never realized how low and mean these cars look in the rear view mirror. They definitely scream "clear the road!" when you see them coming up behind you.

My wife now understands the fun and excitement that these cars provide. I may have created a monster.

She claimed the yellow one.:eek

My wife went in the Red one for a drive ONCE - she said never again. I suggested the same scenario some time ago and she said no way.

My wife's never learned to drive a manual tranny car. In fact, she's refused to do so! Therefore, I'll never experience any issue over who drives what!:lol

Herein is offered "validation" of the above:

We had ours out for a "putt" this morning & on the way back home I had occasion to pass a string of cars dragging their anchors along I-5.:biggrin

As I was coming up on the two lead vehicles, the second one (a single axle delivery van) signaled for a lane change, started to do so, 'saw my GT coming up on him about 8-10 lengths back, and, even though he really did have plenty of space - HE HALTED THAT MANEUVER & PULLED RIGHT BACK OVER INTO THE RIGHT LANE and waited for us to go by! So, there you go, Texas!

Uuuuuuuuh ...'turns out the lead car was a sweet looking Porche 911 Turbo w/aftermarket wheels & fat tires! Go figger. ( 'Gave him a little "beep beep" type "hello" as we went by ... and got ZERO response from him.:shrug :frown )

My wife's cars are generally full of biscuits and dents. She rode once in the Murcielago and was terrified - I did tread on it a little - but likes the GT and loves the Bentley (tart!).

Texas, that's interesting about seeing your car from a different perspective. I would imagine all the chaps at the big rally last year would have similar thoughts. I was part of the Le Mans tour last year with ten other GT's - GT's behind and in front. Fantastic to see them from all sides and yes, they look very mean, low and angry when approaching at speed in the rear mirror.

No wonder other cars clear the path so quickly! :biggrin

Great, now you need a third for the girlfriend and you can have real togetherness:biggrin :lol :biggrin

Sounds like fun but you should post up the pics.

In fairness to him, maybe he did wave or something, but how would I know? 'Can't see much outta the GT aft of the doors ...and besides, he was getting soooooo tiny back there! :lol

I'm NOT going to ask - and neither should anybody else!

Keith,

Now you’ve gone and done it!! :eek

Mrs. Spirit has been after me to drive the GT for quite sometime now. So far I have been successful at creative excuses to keep her out of the drives seat. But if she reads this post, I am afraid I will be put at an extreme disadvantage.

She doesn’t ask to drive the Panoz. :frown Says it’s too “raw” and not "refined” [kind of like me :frown - so she says] “it’s a 4 wheeled motorcycle”; but “the GT looks so smooth and easy to drive”. :thumbsup

I’m afraid this is one I’m going to loose sooner or later. Maybe on our way to the California Rally where there are some VERY wide open spaces out in West Texas? She does have a pretty “heavy” right foot.

Glad you had an enjoyable time; it sure was another beautiful Texas day.

I went for a cruise yesterday and had a guy follow me home hoping to get a better look at the car!

When your wife is 5ft tall and can't reach the pedals on my GT or my AC Mark IV Cobra you have a real dilema! She's not much help on convoying to shows. TGH

That happens frequently....esp.. when I stop for gas.

That's happen to me only once (so far), Ed. When it became apparent that's what was going on, I took a quick "left" (while their car was on my right and couldn't follow because of traffic) and went home via a different route.

Truth be told, I pbly wouldn't care most of the time ...but, I didn't like the "gang banger" looks of the two guys in this particular case.

(Besides, you know how it is...if ends up yuh gotta shoot 'em there's sooooo much paper work involved!!!!!!:rofl)
